Ralliart/SpecV a fresh comparison
^^^ he's right.
And as for the niche of cars, the manufacturers will come out with something else after a few year hiatus. The SI always took a few years break inbetween releases. So, something else will come down the pipe once these cars leave.

My son had a yellow 2002 Spec V, and we have a 2005 Ralliart. Both the cars are pretty comparible and I leaned more towards the Ralliart overall. I just wish our Ralliart had dual overhead cams so it would be stronger on top like the Spec-V is.
I've been a Nissan owner the last 6 years. I bought a Ralliart last week. And wouldn't you know, I just test drove a 2005 Spec V last week too.
I didn't feel like it outhandled or outperformed the Ralliart in any way, although I admit the 6 speed transmission was fun, the Ralliart shifts so much smoother and feels more like a true sports car and not just a compact with a bigger engine and stiff suspension. I didn't top it out, so it may very well be faster than the Ralliart, but it didn't FEEL faster.
Plus, the Ralliart is a more comfortable car, looks better (IMO) and cost less for more features.

MotorTrend says the Ralliart is better,SportCompactCar saysThe Spec-V is Better...i guess depends on the driver....i just seen 2 days ago an 03 Spec-V parked next to an 05 ...what the hell is wrong with Nissan?????? it was like comparing Napoleon Dinamite to Paul Tetul Sr.!! (a little wimp and a big bad **** )
How many turbo'd spec's do you see with the current engine block. Yeah, that's right. No disrespect, but it's pretty sad that the internals are that weak in stock form. You would most certainly have to change the rods anyways for a agressive NA setup. I could definitely see a rod get thrown at higher revs. The ralliart has a much better block and superior technology to back it up. When the Sentra is redesigned soon, I don't think Nissan will let us down. It just better be alot more refined than the current outdated heap.
There's a few turbo'd V's over at b15sentra.net and at thevboard.com. They put down around 260+ish i believe. I'm pretty sure they're on the stock internals and whatnot. Correct me if i'm wrong please.
Those observations pretty much match up with all the reviews I've read. In fact, the reviews of the Ralliart and Spec V are consistent enough in their pros and cons of each that I didn't even feel the need to test drive the Spec V before buying a Ralliart, though I probably should've, if only just for fun. I just prefer the Ralliart.
Also, I swear I fit a little better in Lancers than Sentras, at least in my preferred seating position.

Well, I never actually looked at the Spec-V's trunk in much details... but I know my RA s*cks on that department anyway, so it's not a big advantage when you reach that point. I wish they'd made an hatchback RA, kinda like the Mazda 6... I'd have gotten that model instead.

I could never buy an A/T car... so the Sportback was never meant for me (or for most other enthusiasts for that matter). And that's why I think it didn't sell. Even journalists were on Mitsubishi's case from the get go because of this enormous mistake in gaging the needs of their customers.
Honestly, the hatchback version of the Mazda 6 doesn't look any different than the 4 door version. The wagon on the other hand is like any other wagon.
Also, I was very disapointed with the V6 version of the Mazda 6. The response is so poor that when I drove the two of them back to back, I liked the 4 cylinder version better! It may have something to do with the V6 being from Ford...
