Exclamation Calling all 2005 Lancer Ralliart - Read

Remember this thread?
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...8&page=1&pp=20

Yeah, mods lock it. Why? Everybody thought it was fishey, yet nobody took the time out to PM or email the guy to get more info. Well, it's not fishey and it is legit. I think people should have not jump to conclusion so fast.

Now, read this thread:
http://www.sclc.net/sclc/forums/view...?p=23908#23908

This guy came to the RRM meet last saturday, very cool person and had nothing fishey or erie about him. He stay and chatted with us, most of the convos we had weren't even about "data collecting" from the o5's, just learning more about the lancer and just hanging out with us. Before the thread was closed, the mods should have contact the guy to ask him for more info.

He did the right thing on the other forum on here there was missing information.

Like Company, Name, and What EXACTLY he planned on doing.

I've never heard of this before.

again, if it's required by law, i don't see why mitsubishi don't just have their dealers do the data collecting.. people are bringing in their car anyways.. if they offer a "free oil change" i am sure they get like 900000 cars back to the dealer

so why offer this on "car club" web sites? seems like they might be collecting "mod" data instead (note vin, mods, etc)

Yeah, the guy might exist... it doesn't mean he's not working against us. Even if he's not collecting data that can identify you and your car (but he is, isn't he?), I'm sure that Mitsubishi can use the sum of data collected to establish how many owners have a piggyback or some other kind of mod. Even fuel ratio can tell Mitsubishi if you installed a CAI... and remember people on here posting their DP threw a CEL?

My guess is that they are mounting an offensive against modding to be able to void some waranties. Over the course of 10 years, they'll have to do so if they can hope to keep the warranty repairs down.

And did anyone ever wonder why the guy was so specifically interested in the RRM meet as he was? Biggest concentration of piggybacked Lancers on the continent...

For the record, I myself sent him a PM, he sent me an 80 page document of crap. I then asked him why he couldnt disclose more information about why he couldnt give away too many details, he never got back to me. If he doesnt have the common courtesy to answer my question, then Im not gonna believe him.

^+1... He just didn't go about it the right way... It WAS fishy because he didn't give us any info after multiple questions & just offers to cash to "read something from your ecu"...
I'm sure's he's a really nice person, but he went about his "scouting" the wrong way!!!

^^^ to answer that question, honda has done it in the past a friend said. Don't know about mazda or nissan thou. Research other car boards... ull see.

I don't know about vo6, but the guy who came to the meet didn't come off like that, talking to him and very rarely did he mention data collecting. I know he needs 2005 RA's, but I mean, there were a bunch of 2004 RA's there, if he was doing something "fishy', why not bust us aswell, report back to mitsu and get us all denied warranties? IDK...

That's what I took from him and alil convo we had. MODS, you can close this thread.

Yeah, and notice these companies aren't stuck with a 10 years warranty policy...

It would be such a marketing disaster if it was made public that Mitsubishi are spying on their customers that you won't get more details from the guy for sure... and no acknowlegement from Mitsubishi either.
