It's more of a road-racing thing. Also handy in autocross.

i drive like it's an econobox so i always have people in it. when i have people in it, i drive as smoothly as possible. i hate *****es who complain. it's funny how if you down shift normal, everybody in the car head bangs in sync. taking the driving line becomes automatic, too. i hate being a passenger in a car who jerks the wheel 5-10 times in the middle of a turn.

Okay, why is everybody like, heel toeing is gunn lik tear up my clutch man, iz to Xtreme for mah daily driving.

I heel toe every day now. Its a useful daily driving technique when done properly. It is better for your car's clutch and transmission than just throwing it in gear to slow down.

Can we all agree that we need to break to slow down?
Can we all agree that rev matching when downshifting is the healthiest way to slow down with the least amount of wear on the clutch/engine/transmission?
Nobody should argue with that. Nobody.

Okay, heel-toeing is just putting the two together. Takes awhile to get used to but just practice, practice, practice. I was reading an article about how this guy learned from his mother. Okay, this guys little old mother drives her grocery getter and heel-toes. I'm sure she's so extreme and is teh performance driver. In the article I also read that the EVO is one of the best cars for heel-toeing out on the market. Hey guess what guys, our pedal configuration is identical. After I read how to do it, I was surprised at how it wasn't as hard as I had thought. Don't knock it till ya try it.

Autovation pedals are now on the car and I'm going for a heel-toeing practice run right after work! I can't wait... this is gonna be fun (or my gears will all explode, but hey, nothing's perfect in this world).

Yeah, I do it all the time now too. I don't think its JUST a tool for racing. It is practicle for daily driving. I will primarily use rev matching only b/c its (like many other on here have said) easier on your drivetrain and on the passangers. But, even the heel and toe is usefull on nice long sweeping off ramps. Just for a bit of fun. AND, it can also be usefull in a emergency situation.....say some clown slams on his brakes and forces you to make a sudden move. Well, if your cruising in 5th you may not have the push after braking and getting your rpms below 2500....so, blip the throttle while braking and throw it in third and then you'll have the push you need to accelerate where you need to.
