motor ticking

hey all, ive got about 31k on my 04 RA and i was just wondering if anyone else had a ticking noise coming from your motor? ive tried looking at it to see what it may be, so i could possibly do something about it because it dosent sound very appealing. if anyone has thoughts or expieriences they'd be appreciated.

I'm on my second lancer and both of them have had small ticking noises... I asked my tech and he said that it isn't anything to worry about... It doesn't necessarily mean that yours isn't a problem though... I'd get it checked out...

well my friend and i both have 4 cylinder cars, and they all make that ticking sound when running. I figured it was just the sound of a 4 cylinder and got used to it. Sometimes when i change the oil it's not as loud...

I've heard it too. From what i've read, it might be valves clicking, I switched oils and I don't hear it generally. Also happens more in cold weather.

Its nothing to worry about, I have had a lot of four cylinder cars and they all make that sound. I only have 22000 on my Ralli and it makes that sound also.

I thought it was the fuel pump making that ticking noise.

I was told from the dealer it was the ABS sensors going through startup diagnostics.

Mine seems to have gone away, now that I think about it, since I switched to synthetic oil. I have been using Valvoline Synthetic... Mobile1 is just to expensive for my budget

Had same vavle ticking noise in my evo with 34,000 miles on it

Valves get all gummy and start tickin after a while

The cure: Marvels Mystery Oil

Add to engine oil and run for 2,000 miles apx.

when first added let car idle then rev to 2,000.......wait about 15 seconds

do the same to 3,000

do the same to 4,000

do the same to 5,000

do the same to 6,000

wait about 5 min.

Repeat.

When driving for the 2,000 mile period always stay a bit higher in rpms then usual to let the mystery oil clean up ur valves.

Did mine exactly as said in this post and ticking noise gone for GOOD

hope this helps
