Track Event, TSD Rally, Auto-Cross?

I know plenty of guys do these events with their Evo's but who out there does a track event, auto-cross or TSD rally in their Ralliart Lancer? If so what events are you going to? I am looking at doing a TSD Rally in the fall and a track day at Summit Point in the Spring.

This could or maybe should be under the motorsports topic but I placed it here to place emphasis on the interest in Lancer Ralliart owners not Evo owners.

Hey,

I do a fair amount of autox, and I am doing a TSD rally on the 31 st of aug. Its going to be over 100 km long (60 miles) and will be 50% gravel and 50% tarmac. I will be running my kumho MX street tires as I don't have any Allseason. But I will be raising my suspension and adding my mud flaps. THis TSD will be half sunlight and half night time. Should be interesting. ITs my first one and my girlfreind is my navigator. I'm pumped

Partial gravel and partially at night? Wow. That would be killer. Do you have any pics of your car in action auto crossing? I would love to see them. I am really convinced that the Ralliart Lancer can be a great event car. My wife is going to be my co-pilot at the TSD. We will either be a great team or kill each other!! haha I think it will be the former.

I just finished my first autoslalom with the RA and holy crap that is fun. I have a lot to learn though as I got schooled by minis and civics. It was the canadian national championship though, I suppose.
If a person knew how to drive it, I think the RA would have a pretty nice edge in H stock where it is classified. Looks like they dumped all non-turbo lancers into H for 2005, but this may change for 2006. So the RA has about a 50hp advantage over most of the cars in that class.
Made no difference in my case, but I did manage to beat a Toyota Echo and a couple morris coopers. I wouldnt exactly call that bragging rights though.
I have some pictures if you want to see, don't know how to post them on here tho.

I've done a autox in the ralliart and plan to do many more. I was always a few seconds behind my friend in his xA, but hes sponsored and has been doing it regularly for over a year. I got new tires and lowered the car, so i should be a bit more competative (not to mention, i have a full days experience under my belt!).

i think rally-cross would be a good start if you are interested in a rally but dont want to put ur car on the line with little experience. they are gaining popularity and are much safer, but teach you about everything u need to know to handle the car off the pavement. Only difference is its shorter and if u mess up, u hit some cones, not a tree/cliff/river,etc

TSD rallies are (Time Speed Distance). They are designed to be competitive by driving properly and having a good navigator. If the posted speed limit is 40mph, the notes will give you a lowe average speed (something like 30mph) TSD rallies are not meant to drive faster than the speed limit. You are given a set time complete a stage and you want to try to complete the stage in the set amount of time. If they give 30 minutes to complete a stage and you complete it faster or slower, you will get a time penalty. Staying on course is the way to win and be consistent. All the roads are public roads and are in good condition as to not break your car. There are times that you might go off course and have to make up some time, so you will be stepping on it to make it up, so faster speeds are achieved. This **** is fun, I'm so pumped

You can check scca.org for the national schedule or see if you have a local region website. My region has one in october and november. Should be great times of the year to be out on the road driving.

They have beginer classes and expert classes for guys who go all out. They also have Gimmick Road Rallys that are similar but a bit more light hearted and fun.

mojambo,

Do you have one of the clip boards with the stop watches attached to the top of it? I have heard that they are a god send in TSD Road Rallys. Sounds silly but I hear every little thing can help and that is one of them. When you do the event let me know how you made out. I may have a few questions. Other than a stop watch and tripometer you do not need anything else right? Do you know how large the text is for the pace notes? My wife hates reading small print in cars. I am hoping the one we do is the kind with the bigger print and the symbols.

Thanks man, I am so jealous. I have to wait till either the october event or november event in my area.

Hey,

Yeah, I went to business Depot and bought a clipboard and a larger Dry erase marker board(12"x18" approx.) I attached the clip from cheap smaller clipboard and used rivets to secure it. I also bought a large NUMBER stopwatch and I will secure it with velcro. You will also need to secure pens to the clipboard (velcro is a good idea here) and some type of reading light. It was recommended to get a reading light for books. I will get of of these and I also ahve a small clip light with a flexible neck. The fonts will most likely not be big as there is quite a bit of information on the pace notes and they leave space for you to write down info. I will also be velcroing a calculator to the clipboard. The board is white and I bought some of the dry erase markers to write stuff down if needed. I'll attemt to take a piture of clip board when its setup. If its pink don't laugh as I have to do what is necessary to keep the girl interested.

ralliarv,
Kick *** pictures. Thanks. The course looked awesome. a great slalom, tight turn around and looks like you had a little section to get on the juice and gain some speed. what geras did you use? I know some courses never let ya get out of second gear.

candycain,
Keep us posted. Once you get the hang of launching off the line it is a blast!

mojambo,
If you could, pink or not, a picture would be great. The first Road Rally I can do is in October. I am interested to see how well me and my wife do. The whole event is during the day and it is entirely on pavement. Have you done a Gimmick Rally as well? There is one on our local schedule. I have heard they are still fun just not as competitive.
