Would bushings help the shifting a bit? I hate it when I'm shifting from 1st to 2nd and feel that DINK feeling, going into synch. It's almost as though something is blocking it on its way.

I would expect the bushings to give you an even more direct feel. It shouldn't change the way the gears go into place when you shift though... but just to be sure, you'd better ask one of the guys who already bought and installed them. I think AdamRA has them... not sure though.

no, its a manual in a sporty car. if you want to 'fix' being able to feel the gears mesh and the road feedback, get an automatic. they do offer the ra in an automatic, right? i agree, if u wanted a luxury car to take you home after badminton practice (chuckle), u shoulda gottan a chrysler 300 or something. they dont offer a manual in those kinds of cars for a reason: the target audiance doenst want to know anything about the road conditions or the engine.

Whoa.... didn't expect this much response. Thanks for the sissy and the badminton comments. They gave me a chuckle. I guess I'm showing my age here...

I admit that the RA does have a very sporty feel to it. Guess comfort had to suffer a bit.

If you want to drive something you can feel, something that communicates some information back to you, you're in the right car. If you're looking for comfort, you should be driving something else entirely and I don't quite understand why you bought the RA. Sorry to be so blunt, but that's my opinion...

Well said.. I love the clutch and shifter feedback. My friend has a mazda 3 and he was in love with how my car drove compared to his.

I have noticed thought, the shifter popping when I shift out of first, like there is too much tension in the spring or something.

I didn't really get a chance to feel the shifting with the stock bushings because I changed them out almost as soon as I got the car but they probibly didn't change the stiffness, just the precesion of the shifts because the will not move at all. Not a bad and cheap mod either.

I wouldm't mind a fix to that pop from first.

Did anyone install the B&M short shifter, or any short shifter for that matter, in the RA. The throw doesn't seem that much smaller so I'm debating on selling mine.

LMAO, nice blow with the badminton funny...

I'm not the one that's complaining about the shifting. Just thought I'd give my feedback and opinion on the RA compared to other manual cars that I've driven. I do like the crisp feel of the shifting on the RA however. The friction point really could be a little lower, but what can you do.

Thanks for your extra comment on the suspension too, that was helpful.

Question

-

I think an engine damper or stiffer mounts may cure that popping out problem... it may be related to torsion between the tranny and the engine block. I don't have that problem on mine... but I don't have the aftermarket bushings either. There may be a link between the two... I dunno.

It happened without the bushings. Its strange but occasional so It isn't that bad, once a week or so.

It wasn't specifically aimed at you... just a general remark.

I also get this, but its only when I rev past 6k in 1st and hit the clutch and pop it into second all within a second (or so ). I thought that the shifter bushing were what was causing this problem though due to them being rubber and the stretchy characteristic of rubber.

I have speed source bushings and the B&M shifter and I love it... I thought it was too loose before and now it is awesome... I feel a shorter shift and you can see it in the boot... I drove my friends specV and it was horrible... extremely sloppy...

Nah, my issue is just with the shifter its self. When you take it out of first it pops back at you, makes a pretty load noise when you do it. Other times its just smoother like the rest of the gears.

Woaw! Beats me... Did you get it looked at? It would worry me a lot if mine did that...
