Evo Steering Wheel Installation?

Hey, anyone have any thoughts on this? I bought xtians Evo wheel and now need to get it into my car, but I'm a bit spooked by the whole "airbag" thing.

Anyone have directions how to do this or any idea if the dealer would install it and how much would they rape me for?

unplug the battery and take out the airbag fuse, then install the wheel, then put the fuse back in and hook back up the battery.

ok you dont need to do any fuse stuff. this is how i did mine. unplug ur batter. go under ur stock wheel and tkae off a plastic cover and it reveals some plugs. unplug them all. after that get a straight allen wrench. forget the size but is a really big one. and put it to the end of a socket wrench and on the left side of ur wheel is a hole that goes up in a vertical way and unblolt the bolt. remember lefty loosey. after that, carefully inch ur steering wheel off. IF YOU DO IT TOO FAST YOULL BREAK UR CLOCK SPRING like i did. lucily the guy i bought the wheel from sent me his. so take off your wheel, put the evo one on. hopefuly the bolt is still inside ur evo wheel from Xtyan. screw it on, plug in ur wires, replug ur battery and have s*ex with your wheel. the end.

Ralli04Art is right, forget the fuse crap, just undo the battery, that's all i did too. that bolt is a ***** to get off, it's on real tight. i actually broke the handle off one of my allen drivers trying to get that thing off! hahha, oh well, it was worth it, cause that steering wheel is so damn sexy!

Make sure your grounded too when dealing with the airbags as static electricity will set them off. I know this as a fact as i am a locksmith and have torn down many a steering column with airbags.

Best directions ever.

Well, just ended up installing it myself with a buddy of mine. Local Mitsu dealer and a local shop wouldn't touch it because of the liability... I guess moving a wheel from one model Lancer to another is beyond Mitsubishi mechanics to handle. It took like 10 minutes and done. Glad they said no, saved me some $$!

Hey, no slobber on my ride!

As for your question... well... it uses the same plug, and there's no SRS warning light, so I assume it's okay. Plus, it is a factory option in other territories. As always. I drive to avoid accidents, and there's no guarantee that ANY airbag will deploy, so... (shrug)

Sweet. Those are some nice seats. I would like them, but I have side airbags, and they don't match my interior colors too well.

Honestly, I do prefer the Ralliart style seats over the Evo ones tho... if just for the height adjustment.
