you have to have a 1/2 Drive Wrench Rachet. It's gonna stick in that box shape intrusion. your gonna pull it back towards the rear of the car.

Exclamation

There is a small hole, like the size of a pencil on the lower part of the tensioner. When you pull the tensioner back (towards the rear of the car) that hole is gonna line up with another hole behind it (it's black), ... put the allen wrench in there. Make sure you pull back very hard, its gonna be a struggle a few times. Put the alen wrench thru both holes, only far enough to lock it in place (half way)... DO NOT STICK IT ALL THE WAY THRU.

Let me know where I'm going wrong here. I put the 1/2 inch drive into stock pulley (middle) and I turn counter-clockwise. The small black hole always lines up with the pulley and stays with the hole in the pulley at all times, it doesn't stay in one spot, but moves with the pulley. I pull the ratchet... Keeep pullin the ratcher, black hole keeps coming (I can always see it) I have read the instructions over and over time again but I just don't know what to do.

Anyone? The tensioner is in the middle of the pulley correct? It fits a 1/2 drive ratchet, but the hole is supposed to be on the bottom left of the tensioner it says in the instructions, how can this be when it moves around all the time. I'm running out of time, someone read my mind and come up with a miracle, please!

What happens if you put the allen key in all the way? Could I have broke something, please I want to get this over with. I already took the stock one off now... But not the right way. I just undid the bolts and slid it off.

just pull the tensioner back and hold it there with your muscles.....then take the belt off of one pulley.

It will be much harder to put the belt on but the allen wrench is unnecessary.

seriously though, IF you can't do this pulley, you should not be working on your car. THis is quite an easy thing to do. Good thing is that you can't really mess anything up and you can learn like your trying to do. Some people don't event take their wheels off. Good luck, I don't mean to be harsh

Well I got it installed. I was just spinning the crank because that also has a 1/2" ratchet spot in it. Thanks for everyones help. In the end I ended up calling Joe and he told me what to do. I knew I was doing something stupidly wrong and knew that it was probably really retarded. Oh well it's done now and now I know what the tensioner is
