Paint Issues, anyone Else?

Has anyone else had issues of fading with there paint? I've heard of it chipping after awhile but I've only had my 05 for about 2 months and the license plate panel is many shades duller than the rest of the trunk.

The dealer response...buff it out every 2-3weeks? Off the top of my head I thought this paint issue was covered? maybe not though.

Another thing, my steel bar in the front of the sunroof snapped off leaving it useless untill it is fixed, has this happened to anyone else?

the licence plate panel is cheap plastic... mine looks like crap too... There is a company making CF replacements for it... I've been looking into one.

I did see that panel, what is it $200.00? Maybe a carbon trunk would be a better option. I dunno, it just kinda pisses me off that I'm just supposed to accept the fact that its cheap and faded that fast. So far I've had more problems in one month than over a year with my last car.

Even with a CF trunk, you need to buy that license plate frame piece seperately.

Tomorrow I'll look more closely at my trunk and see if the paint still matches up.

I work in the sign industry so I'm well aware of paint fade. I don't think the issue is just cheap paint as much as its your color. Different colors fade faster. You usually don't notice the fade unless you've had a part such as a license plate or vinyl decal on for a long time and then take it off). Yes there will be paint fade after 6 months. It will be the worst on red and yellow ralliarts. Its the reason you wont see any vinyl on my car for more than a few weeks. I keep all my decals and whatnot on glass which dosen't fade.

I think it might just be the fact that our license plate area on the trunk are those dull crappy plastic pieces!!!

The paint is worn off in those spots on my car, but there's still primer underneath.

My hood, OTOH, has stone chips galore. I'll probably give it a few years to rust enough to bother me, then get a new hood with that clear film on it.

Stone chips are not covered under the paint warranty, and neither is surface rust. The rust has to eat all the way through in order for it to be covered. By the time the rust eats through my hood, I'll be WAY over 100000 miles. I just flipped 46000 on my way home from work tonight.

Wow... the dealer says because its yellow it will fade more and I should buff it out... I dunno if I like the look of CF on a yellow car but this is good reason to switch.

Not true if you have the paint protection. I already got mine painted because of excess chips they painted the front half of the car under warranty.
