Weird shifter problem - shifter gets 'stuck'
I have to admit I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one with this issue but disappointed that it has affected the lot of us. lol
My car is really young so I suppose I'll have to see if it goes away...I haven't had any problems yet today but I did notice the shift feeling unusually 'chunky' with my gear shifts.
*sigh*

Alot of people have had problems because of the engine movement but that shouldn't keep you from putting it into reverse... I have problems sometimes but I just move it around in neutral and than it works... It doesn't bother me...
Is everyone having this problem only when the car is completely stopped/parked, or does it get stuck sometimes while you're driving?
It's very common to not be able to get into 1st and Reverse after the car's been parked, but I dunno what's up with it not being able to come out. From what I understand the issue of getting it in is caused by the fact that there's a small chance that the gears line up just right so that the linkage won't go in without moving the gears. Whenever this happens, I just release the parking brake partially and let the car roll a foot or two, which always makes the gears line up correctly and in it goes. I have no idea if these two issues can be related or not.
Either way, Mitsu cheaped out on Lancer shifter assemblies big time.

isn' it because the gears are sometimes just aligned poorly to allow it to engage properly? Whenever I get it, which is once in a while, i just clutch in and out a couple times in neutral and then it'll go no problem.
