I think the general opinion, is black hoods make you look like you want carbon fiber but are too cheap to afford it. The test civic Si pulled it off because it was made by honda. But if I see cars on the road with mismatched hoods, I think something is wrong or they're being ricey. Other people will have stronger opinions about it. My vote, don't do it. Save for a CF hood. At least that way, you'll be legit and take weight off the front end.

A guy on the boards already did it, xtianlancer, looks sorta tacky if you ask me. When I see black hoods on cars, i think its either cf or a hood they got out of a junkyard to make it LOOK like cf. Please keep your hood the way it is.

If you only decide to paint the outside, you will only need 1 pint of paint (about 30 bucks) and 1qt of paint reducer (they don't sell in pint, about 35 bucks). Since paint ratio is 1:1, you will have a total of 2 pints and enough to cover the whole area. Also, don't forget sealer/valueshade; you will need a reducer and activator for that (about 70 bucks total) and of course clear coat (1 pint= about 60 bucks). So if will do you it by yourself, you will end up spending about 200 bucks, and if you take it to the shop, probably it will cost you 400-500 bucks.
So they're right, you rather save your money and buy a real cf hood. But if you want to have a hood like Accolade's, go ahead.
