Question magnaflow sounds ricey??

i hooked my new magnaflow muffler this weekend and it sounds alot deeper during cruise and low speed acceleration. Ive also noticed a slight increase in acceleration while climbing into the higher rpms but while doing that it kinda sound a little ricey . Is this common with magnaflow or when you dont install a whole exhaust system ? heres some pics.

I have a magnaflow as well, I had the ricey issue. I went out and got an 18 inch glass pack with the same inner diameter as our stock pipe and replaced the resonator with that. I get the rice sound until the exhaust heats up which only takes a few minutes, and then it sounds just fine.

A glasspack on a ralliart and you dont get a ricey sound? Every glass pack ive heard on cars sounds like absolute crap. I have only heard them on preludes and redneck broncos.

Works great, the longer the pack the mellower the sound, if you got a short one, it would would sound like ***, but the longer the pack the mellower the sound. I don't know how it works exactly but yeah, it's not bad at all. I'd let you hear it, but I'm not sure how I can go about that.

The glass pack probably absorbs the sound waves better then the resonator does...
I have a magnaflow muffler too and it doesn't sound ricey at all... always sounds deep...

The only reason the aftermarket exhausts sound 'ricey' is because the stock resonator is not long enough to support the extra flow from the new muffler. Even though we have a 'sport' exhaust stock, the muffler still probably has a baffle or two to quiet it down (to pass db standards, etc). If you cut out the stock resonator and replace it with a Magnaflow one, you will reduce the buzzing/high pitched sounds (commonly referred to as 'ricey').

No, have your resonator cut out and replace the resonator with an 18 inch glasspack with the same Inner Diameter as whatever size piping you have for the rest of your system. You should be able to get the glass pack at any exhaust shop.
