A MIVEC rant...
I blame Mitsubishi.
They just haven't put the Ralliart put there enough.
Everyone who rides in, sees or especially drives my Ralli LOVES it, hell, when I go to the Mitsu dealership to drool on every new Evo they get even the sales people talk about how much they love the Ralliart.
I've only ever seen a couple articles on it (and the only real complaint was that the stock tires suck, and we all know that hasn't changed) it wasn't in any of the car mags long-term tests that I know of, no marketing at all really.
Maybe the next-gen Lancer will get a push, but by then, it's too late for us, and honestly, I'm hoping to be in an Evo late this year.

Everyone always ask what kinda of car it is, never hearing about it before. If they drive it or in it they absolutely love it. Its a great car, if marketed better would sell better.
yeah, try selling one privately. There is no reason my car hasnt sold yet, damn thing is close to mint. Plenty of people stop and look. I actually had a guy call me and tell me he could just go get a used lancer es for almost half of what i'm asking. He said i was charging way to much for a body kit and painted calipers, and if i would take $7000, i may have a deal... I told him to go buy that lancer es, or fork up the 13.5 for something he knows nothing about. blah. I think i'll just keep it and make it the fastest damn lancer in western ny. road race, here i come..
Man that sucks..I happened to look at resale after I got my car..
nothing like loosing $4500 the day you drive off the lot
Oh well, I didn't buy it to resell the fuggin thing!

NORCAL where you at???
i'm hopin the 4G eclipses get better aftermarket love if you guys don't get any. it went way downhill since the 3G and hope it picks back up with the 4G. there's a GT thats parked down the street from my house and every day that i pass by it i love it a little more. i just wished someone found the 600 lb block of lead in the car and finds a way to unbolt it.
mitsu needs spunkier youth focused commercials if you want aftermarket to go up. lots of ricers, lots of parts. an unfortunate fact. i'm still surprised the scion xA and xB have such an aftermarket for not being all that trackable AND having 1.5L engines. crazy.

well i'll be in irvine this weekend for the meet. we can talk about it in between hot dogs and football. or maybe start a new thread to attract people who are much more knowledgeable at electrical. i've done a bit of diggin around but honda shop manuals suck *** compared to mitsu manuals. i can't find what i want.
I would really love to see the RA live.
Im kinda bitter cause when I went to my Mitsu dealership in 03 and asked them about the RA they looked at me like I was crazy and pointed me to an OZ. I knew this car was coming out almost a year before it even came out. I ended up walking down to Mazda and walking away with a P5. What made it worse was that 2weeks later I rode past Mitsu and saw the RA. I wanted to walk in there and slap the Manager.
I really feel bad for the RA cause I know 5-10 years from now its gonna be one of those car that people talk about as a "sleeper" like the 91 Sentra SE-Rs

i know the feeling...
At least here in PR we like the sleeper thing. Most of us Ralliart owners used to own Mirages and it was kinda priceless when you put down a b16 powered civic. They were great and cheap to modify outside the price of bolt ons. I think that if the RA doesnt get the deserved recognition it will be always like this...unless of course the new 4G69 in 07 or 08 get a nice boost in hp due to dual mivec and of of course mitsu stops being so cheap on tires

This is what happened to the whole Mirage 4g93 to the Lancer 4g94 issue. When the OZ Rally edition showed up, support for the Mirage 4g93 whas starting to peak and we were hoping for some good turbo kit support for the motor. Then all of a sudden turbo kits popped up for the 4g94 before the 4g93. Injen made intake kits for the Lancer and us Mirage owners were left behind. No offense but performance wise the Lancer 4g94 doesn't compare to the 4g93. This will be the same case with the Ralliart and the Evo. The bigger brother will almost always be more popular. Don't forget also that the Ralliart motor is a US only thing. You won't have many "Made in Taiwan" parts for US Manufactures to clone compared to Evo parts.
Well as said earlier - RPW is going to be producing a host of parts for teh ralliart aka Mivec lancer in australia and one of teh key area's will be focusing on is camshafts. Cam gears, rpm changeover points and larger profile camshafts on the car will be something we will be spending some serious time on.
And of course - a decent set of tuned length headers.
Just keep patient cause within another 2 months, the biggest problem you are going to have is deciding on which part you can afford first.

Afford being the key word here, since the parts will be coming in from Australia this time... which is not that far from Japan. So once again, shiping is gonna kill us...
But hey, glad to see that parts will be made for us somewhere... some of us who can afford it might even be able to get a hold of them.
Why doesn't anyone ever open a US/Canada local office to sell their parts? I mean, why don't Japanese and Australian companies have a North-american branch office? Too much financial risk for too small a market? Maybe, uh?
The RA rules, but being an owner sucks sometimes...
Hey I know!!! I'm moving to Australia! Anyway, it's summer there right now...
Oh, sh*t... then they also drive on the wrong side of the road!
Okay, back to square one then...
