was wondering this because i live in miami and a lot of flooding here, i don't want to soak up water. also is there a reallya big diff between sri and the cai.

The SRI's usually reside right where the stock box once was. The CAI will go down to the lower driver's side under the headlight, right behind the foglight on the RA's. If you leave in the splash guards and cut a hole in the splash guard towards the inside for the CAI pipe to go through you won't have to worry about too much water unless you drive through some pretty deep water and actually submerge the filter.

i live in pembroke pines and i have a CAI. i really only change it into SRI when i know there WILL BE flooding. other than that, i have cai on 24/7 during rain, i had it on during wilma and katrina. and i drive everywhere. to top it off, i do not have fog lights because i was hit by road debris, so its just an open hole for my CAI. so i say your not really in a bad condition unless flooding around your area will reach well over your fog lights.

Instead of cutting a hole in the splash guard, i just took out the center piece that seemed to divide the fog light area and the center area. I replaced all the under splash guarding. I don't think mine is in any danger unless the front end gets submerged in water, but then we're all gambling if we're driving in that much water. I've even read about switching to a sri for winter due to slush(in miami you dont have this slush=snow&water), however since ours can be protected by the splash guard and doesn't hang in the open like some other cars would, I believe there is no danger (IMO). However if your worried about it, switch it, it only takes a few minutes once you've done it.

I had this problem a few months ago when it was time to decided between de cai or the sri... I decided to go sri because i dont think that there is a big difference between both (in making HP). Also i had to considered that i live in Québec city and there is a lot of slush here. I don't want to take any chances... I highly suggest that you buy a CAi bypass valve if you decide to go cai. Only cost like 100$ and it can save your engine......
i acutally really rather get a sri since that is what i have had in most of my cars up to now i dont think their is much diff , if i am wrong then any one with the cai tell me diff. and is the only sri for our car the one from rrm, or is their a better one. i really like the little perf gain the intake gives and i love the sound.

I've had both. There are several companies that make the SRI (RRM, Ultimate Racing, AEM). Both RRM and Injen make the CAI's for the RA (manual only). The nice thing w/ the Injen CAI (not 100% sure if the rrm will do this) is that you can convert it to a SRI if the occasion arise's.
As for power you WILL get noticably more power (especially for you living in a hot/humid climate) out of a CAI due to the cooler denser air it recieves. A SRI for you - while you will still be able to enjoy the sound of the intake - will actually HURT your performace b/c you will be sucking in VERY hot/humid air.
Give it some more time and think of your options and what is most important to you. Hope this helps.

He's right about the humidity thing with the SRI. It would be fine in the winter season seeing as how it isn't too humid down there. But in the spring and summer, forget it. Then you would def need a CAI.Originally Posted by Daddymac
