Need opinion on trading in RA

Heres the story, I owe 14 grand on my car. I found a used 2003 IS300 with 28 thousand miles, black, for $14,000. One problem, its a lemon. The rear end was ripped off by a semi a few months back. The dealership fixed it up and it looks BRAND NEW. I like my RA, but personally im getting a little bored of it. What do you all think I should do? Keep the RA? trade it in on the Lexus?

I've been thinking the same thing but for different reasons. Let us know what you get in trade-in value and how many miles you had then. Sorry to hear about it though.

Nah, I would only buy Japanese vehicles. I mean I like beamers, but unless it was an M5 or M3, im not really interested too much into buying one. My dad has a 2004 bmw 5 series and im not that crazy about it. Im going to see how much they would give me for a trade in, but im not takin any less than 12 grand for it. The only thing im worried about is when I try to go and resell the lexus, nobody is going to want it since its been in a wreck.

Oh, and its an auto. Thats all I can drive until my knee heals next April.

My cousin bought a BMW from a salvage ward a few years ago. He checked out resale values on cars like that and you would take a Huge hit when you try to sell it. Unless they sell the Lexus for cheap cheap I wouldn't worry about it. My cousins BMW had been hit on a dealer lot and was a brand new car.

I'd stick with the Ralliart. You know what problems it does and doesn't have.

I'd hold out and be patient. There's no rush for you to dump the RA, other than your personal preference, so you can afford to wait until you come across a Lexus that isn't pieced back together. There's going to be something wrong with that Lexus, and you won't notice it until you've had it home for a few weeks. A tweaked body panel, a door not quite lined up right, etc.

Be patient, you'll find something better, even if it costs an extra grand.

Ditto that......and you will have paid down the RA some more.

You know you can always sell the IS300 to an expoiled teens and they will never care ,lol.

Anyway, I think you should part out your car and at least get some money back.

Also, is that the lowest price they can go?

Also, when it comes to returning your car to stock, I'm sure you can find most of the stock parts here. Arrange a cash + trade, or just buy some of the stock parts from people that are already modded, then sell off your mods as they're replaced.

Angry

Well I went up there today, and I test drove it. And lets just say that there was no way I was gonna buy the thing. First of all, after I started it up, it revved up really high, for like FIVE SECONDS. I started it again, and it did it for another FIVE SECONDS! So I take it out on the turnpike, give it the gas, and the thing barely goes. The engine was so ragged out, the owner before me obviously didnt take care of it. My mom previously had one before she traded it in and that thing could move.... This car had problems STARTING and had no power to boot! I took it back after not driving it ten minutes and literally said "this thing's a piece of sh*t, good luck trying to get anybody to buy it" and handed him the keys and left. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH DAMNIT!!!! No wonder it was so cheap!

But before we even discussed buying the thing, I was curious as to how much they would give me for my RA, they said they would give me 8490, and im like "uhhh no". I was gonna buy the car with my own money without even trading it in after I heard that, which is why I took the car on a test drive. I cant find a damn IS300 for less than 25 grand unless I want a car with 60k miles on it and 5 years old. WTF! The cars arent worth 20 and theyre still selling them for like 25! But what ive decided, and after my parents gave me crap about it, is do what otter recommended, and just hold onto the car for another year or so before I sell it, so I dont get shafted when I try to trade it in.

That sucks. At least you test drove it and found out the real story behind that car.
