Lightbulb Is it possible

me and a buddy of mine were brainstorming how i could upgrade my ralliart and do it in a manner that is not consistent with every other person with a ra thats out there. So here is what we came up with... do a swap and take out the 2.4 liter mivec inline four and put in the 3.8 liter mivec inline six.. if i was to order the motor from mitsu and got custom motor mounts built does anyone think it is possible.... please any info would be greatly appriceiated. I kno that it has not been done yet but please give me some feedack you guys

The new Eclipse is a 3.8L V6, not inline.

isnt the new eclipse a v6? well anyways i think it would be cheaper to just buy the new eclipse than to go thru the head aches and labor

Eclipse is definitely v6.... if they make an i6 MIVEC that would be nice for tuners. I've heard people say that it's possible to get that v6 to fit, but I dunno how much money, time, and hassle (and unreliability/void of warranty) you're willing to endure. If you do the research and decide to do it, I'm sure everybody here would love to hear all about it and check out the numbers (light car + engine that's decently powerful in heavier car = sweet).

If you're willing to go through all the hassle of swapping engines, I don't see why not. Be sure to check the dimensions of the V6 before you do anything. Make sure it'll fit first.

Good Luck

I really liked the idea of someone else mentioning trying to swap the outlander 2.4l mivec AWD engine with the RA, that would be sweet!

Reality check, one person has been able to swap a new motor into a lancer. Many have tried, and all but one failed because 1)WAY WAY WAY too much work 2)theres more you would have to replace than just an engine. You must have about 15 grand to put aside for time and labor costs if you wanna get that thing to fit. One girl on here claims her bf is going to get an eclipse engine in her car, but i guarantee you it wont work. You have to realize its a whole crapload morethan just taking out an engine and putting in a new one. You arent the first person to come up with this idea and im telling you, it wont work.
