Question Door Lock Issue

So I was replacing my front speakers in the doors the other day and when I put the door panel back on the manual locking mechanism isn't working correctly. It is now stuck in the unlocked postion. I can still lock/unlock the door, but I have to use the switch or the keyless entry button to do it. I also noticed that when I pull on the outside door handle to open the door it is more stiff and kinda pops when it opens (that's the best explanation I can give).

I've tried to take the door panel off again and fool around with the lock, but it still isn't working properly. Anybody have some ideas on this? I'm almost thinking I broke it and I'm not looking forward to what the dealership is gonna charge me to fix it.

I had a similar thing happen to mine just check that the spring on the inside door latch is in the correct position- if the spring is not sitting correct the lever won't open or lock correct - it is a ***** to fix I used a very thin cable tie to compress the spring and inserted it into place and then cut the tie and it popped back into place unfortunately most of tie is still inside the spring

i did the exact same thing, used like two wires pressed the spring together and twisted then shoved it back into place and cut the wires off, if your not quite sure where the springs go look on the other side, it definitely took me half an hour to figure how i could get that thing back in

well when i did mine there was the weatherguard and balck sticky crap that stuck it to the door, i wasnt sure if i was supposed to remove that entire thing and clean the black stuff offor just put it back over it. i asked some people and they said just remove it, but its so hard to completely remove and i was worried about my interior so i just took off the plastic and avoided the black goo and put the weatherguard back on

I hate that black goo. It's hard to work with when it's cold, it's impossible to work with in Summer.

And it doesn't mix well with long hair and high winds.

mine looked all melted, probably cause its a black car, definitely disgusting, the first door i did i tried to remove it all, alcohol didnt work, the best way was to take a whole bunch in your hand and pick it up, but when i realized that wasnt the thing to do, there was enough left on the plastic to seal it up
