The 4G69 found in Ralliarts,Outlanders and now Calibers is gonna be just like GM Ecotec 2.2 engine...its gonna be under a few hoods....im gonna se if i can find the article about the Calibers been the same platform as Outlanders(thats why they can be AWD) just like the new Raider/Durango/Dakota platforms.

na, the srt version of the caliber is FWD, so the swap can be done, you just have to get the FWD tranny and not the AWD one!!!

I was trying to avoid this, but it looks like I have no other choice. I must educate.

This engine is not the same engine as the 4G69. The only things the two engines share is size, orientation design (transverse), they have MIVEC cam technology built into them and that's it. They're not the same block, they're not even close. This is an aluminum block, the 4G69 is iron. The intake and exaust manifolds are on opposite sides. This engine was designed to be boosted, the 4G69 never had that intention in mind. The head is different, it's DOHC. If you would have read the other thread, you would have known this. Other people in this thread were trying to tell you this. If you would have done any reading about the engine, you probably could have figured this out. The press-released refrence to this engine by Dodge, Mitsu, and Hyundai is the 'World Engine', which in fact is not a literal translation in any language to '4G69'. Please, for God's sake, stop it.

its becoming very frustrating that dodge is making all these cars with so much power for the same price as ours. come on mitsu like give us a wrx type lancer, or a srt type ralliart or lancer. give us a 23k car like the wrx. i mena subaru has sti and wrx. we have eco then...what, and ralliart?

We have the EVO...! Mitsubishe should have scraped all base lancers and instead sold the EVO like the 98 and 99 eclipse ...ie. same body for all but :

Base non turbo - FWD no lip kit or wing at 2.0 litres and 165hp (mivec)
Middle model non turbo - FWD with basic lip kit and small wing 2.5 litres and 205 hp
Top end turbo - AWD - full lip kit and wing and VG 3.0 litres and 285hp

The nice thing is that you could buy any one and buld into the top level if you chose to just lit the eclipse RS vs GSX

You have missed the point completely I think. No one is disputing that the 4g69 was developed by Mitsu. The point of contention is the "new" world engine that is 2.4L in displacement, has variable valve timing (which shock of all shocks, Mitsu does not hold sole ownership to *cough vtech cough* *Cough VVT Cough* etc.....) and will be sold by the DSM family, THAT is where ALL similarities end. Look at all your old issues of Super Street, HCI, SSC, and look at the dozens of pictures of the Neon SRT-4 engine. Look really really hard, now open up a new browser window and look at the following 2 engines: 4g69 now open a 3rd window and look at the World engine. If you see more similarities between the 4g69 and the world engine, Congradulations! You are now officially wearing diamond star blinders! While Mitsu motors appreciates your dedication to seeing red diamonds everywhere, the rest of the world will be laughing at you. Untill the fit this new engine in the lancers before the next body change then yes it MAY be possible to swap into our RA's otherwise give it up and go back to dreaming of an AWD Ralliart.

Have you read anything about the engine? 1000+ hp on their drag car with a stock block..... Now think about how many enigne manufacturers can claim that. Yeah, it's a pretty short list isn't it? Now add MIVEC to it for even more flexibility. The 4g63 stock block which everyone knows is pretty healthy, isn't even capable of those numbers and it's the best block Mitsu has. Now instead of thinking RA w/ 300whp, start thinking EVO XI with 800-1000.... Then think of all the drivetrain parts scattered across the tarmac and crank it down to 600-700 :P

An engine does not care what drivetrain its in, and they aren't made differently for that purpose. If I went to a junkyard for an engine for my GS-T, a GSX would be a perfect candidate.

Why? This will not mean a Lancer will become a DSM. They won't be made at Normal, and they won't be 4G63T powered - which is the club DSM definition. It does mean a new joint venture and a new generation which will mean much more confusion though.

Both Brent Rau and John Shepherd use 4G63 blocks and each have well over 1000hp.
