With what modifications to the block? I don't mean rods, cranks, etc. Is there "cementing" of the block? As far as I knew, the 4g63 block just wasnt sound enough as it came from the factory to handle that kind of power. It's not a bad thing, not too many people have the money or talent to extract that kind of power from an engine period, much less one with a stock casting w/o reinforcemnet.

I read this is going to be the replacment for the SRT-4. Big mistake in my opinion. Nice motor, funny they send it to Mitsu to tweak it!!!! Not impressed with looks of the new vehicle, looks way to much like a dodge (front end has dodge ram all over it).

Not that I know of. I know some of the 2JZ people do that on extreme 1500hp+ applications, but AFAIK Rau and Shepherd use stock blocks.

I did not know you could sleeve iron. What material are the sleeves made of?

On this link he describes his block and crank as stock. Scroll to bottom third:

That's a completely different kind of sleeve in your TA. It's when your motors cylinders get so out of round that they can't be bored out any more. They then really over bore it and re-sleeve it, a very expensive fix and only worth it on rare blocks like a poncho 400 or something else you're not likely to run into a dozen of at your local boneyard.

I'm impressed the 4G63 can hold a grand unbolstered, I really didn't think it was sound enough. Either way, the world engine is impressive in the amounts of abuse it's taken so far. Not too shabby for an Intrepid motor with an extra oil galley added! It will be interesting to see if it does make it into the Eclipse/Galant or Lancer.

i know on a lot of the 2g tel cars they do the main bolt conversion to stop the crank walk, but i dont consider that a modified block. my 91 gsx had a tiny (and i mean tiny) bit over 600 hp when we sold it and block was stock. now the neon we built when i had my shop had a filled waterjacket, but it was a total trailor queen. made a pass, packed her in ice, made a pass, packed her in ice.

I was under the impression that we have not seen (as in actually able to buy right now) a World engine equipped car yet. That the Dodge products coming this fall will be the first. I have only heard of the 4 cylinder variants so far. I think there is also a 3.0L V6 for the Outlander, but that it was most certainly not the same as the V6's used in the current DCX midsize and fullsized car line up.

Seems I was wrong, the Wold engine is NOT based on the powertech 2.4L but a totally new design and is going to supercede the powertech in the SRT-4's. Sorry for adding more confusion instead of clearing it up, I really thought it was just an update to that engine. So now there's even more 2.4L engines than there were last year since Mitsu is changing the 4g69 as well. New all alluminum and design changes... Makes me miss small block chevy's even more...

I wonder if the eclipse and Galant will lose the 4G69 next year too, or continue on throughtout their life cycle.
