New Lancers in the UK

Ralliart have just released the new Lancer Line-Up for the UK.

The looks have changed to be more in line with USDM - we now have big bumpers, not the shorty JDM ones.

Our models were originally:

Lancer Equippe/Elegance: 1.3L SOHC 4G15
Lancer Ralliart Sport: 1.6L SOHC 4G18
Lancer Estate: 2.0L SOHC 4G94

Our Lancer Ralliart is 4G63 2.0 DOHC with the option of FWD or AWD, with a 0-60 time of 9.6s, which is quite slow.

So now we have:

Lancer Equippe/Elegance: 1.6L SOHC 4G18
Lancer Ralliart Sport: 2.0 DOHC 4G63
Lancer Estate: 2.0 DOHC 4G63

Previously the Lancer Ralliart in the UK which I have, came with a 1.6 engine, which was slated heavily in the press - I am in the process of changing mine to the 4G69 and my local Ralliart shop is helping me do this.

We still havent recieved the 2.4 MIVEC though, as were a nation consumed with high petrol prices - £1.10 per liter or about $2.50 a litre to you guys? As you can imagine, a 2.0 engine in an entry-level performance saloon is going to be expensive, never mind the 2.4!

I'll post some pics from the brochure in a bit - what I can tell you is that Momo Wheel, Ralliart Recaro Seats, Leather come as standard on the 4G63 2.0 DOHC Ralliart Sport Lancer.

Ok here are the pics:

First my car - a 2005 Lancer Ralliart Sport - notice the completely flat front bumper - looks lovely - but when I had a crash at 15mph I did £3000's of damage because there is zero protection! Mine is the oft-slated 1.6 engine

Now the new front bumper with the new 2.0 DOHC:

I just wish Ralliart would release the 2.4 over here, seeing as how Ralliart is a UK company with hundreds of shops creating Mitsubishi custom cars!

if there is a 4g63 in those cars... screw de mivec 2.4... 4g63 is like the best motor ever made! :O go awd and swap a 6g63 turbo in there! you can take those motors to hell and back and never brake!... Just my humble opinion!

Phbbt, if you're getting the 4G63, then no reason to worry about getting the 4G69. 4G63 is a stronger engine when you get down to modifying it. More parts available, too.

US gas prices are around 79 cents per liter ($3/gal), so nowhere near as expensive as what you're paying.

2.50 a litre? Holy %^&$ I'm paying around 1.12-1.15 /L CAD. I thought I was getting bent over at the pump. No wonder they didn't release a 2.4 over there it would be £80 a week.

So, would you guys honestly have bought the 2.0 DOHC 4G63 over the 4G69 then? Despite the lower torque and lower 0-60 time?

I understand that modifying the 4G63 will give far better results, but I've driven the 2.0 DOHC lancer and whilst its a strong motor it is not very fast stock.

I still think I want to go the 4G69 route, simply because I dont plan on modifying the engine - I'm just after the fastest non-modified motor I can get in the Lancer.

it would be a lot cheaper for you to mod that stock engine as opposed to getting the 4g69 swapped in there and if you were to do the swap it would be pointless to do all that and to leave it STOCK , i mean thats like buying a stock evo over hear and doing nothing to it ...it just doesn't make sense....and yes i would buy that 4g63 over there and i would mod that ***** to 12s all motor .....can you say stroker kit??......hell yea and now you pissed me off because i can't have it

I think that you guys are mixing up your engines. The 4G63 is the 270hp+ turbo engine in the Evo.

4G64 is the 2.4L non-MIVEC and the 4G69 is the 2.4L MIVEC that we have.

It sounds liked your 2.0L is the same engine that our ES/LS/OZ Lancers have.

ES vs OZ vs Ralliart

It most definitely is not it is 4G63 not 4G63T.

It is DOHC not SOHC. Proof is here: http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/lan...sp?strCar1=CB9

Remember I've currently a 1.6... so My choice is:

£6000 ($10,000) to trade in my 2005 1.6 sport lancer for a 2006 2.0 DOHC sport lancer.

My 0-60 will go from 11.8 to 9.6, torque 96 to 133.

OR

£1500 (as quoted by my ralliart shop) to put in a 4G69 motor (I have the ECM, wiring harness, mounts, throttle sensor, and drive-axle already because I have been planning this swap for ages now.

My 0-60 will go from 11.8 to 7.8s and torque 96 to 169 - thats much more bang for a lot less buck!

Plus there is the fact that no-one else will have a 2.4 lancer in the UK... I'm still convinced to do the swap, I just can not stand this 1.6 anymore despite the sport ralliart moniker (which basically meant when I bought it that its got a momo wheel and sport suspension but no bigger an engine)!

There is also the fact my lancer is heavily modified with TEINS, RRM hood, rear Evo IX conversion with Cerious Shaven Trunk and Accolade License Relocate Bumper being installed at the monent (pics on may 2nd) - so really I dont want to trade in - I just want rid of the 1.6!
