SRT vs Lancer
The Ralliart and Evo roll out of the same factory. They start life in the same place, the same way. Obviously a lot of different parts are used, but it is no big deal to the factory, they can roll out any sequence of cars any mix ES, RA, EVo, Wagon, Outlander, any mix any order anytime. That's why all our cars for any given model year, let's say 2005 are 5UXXXXXX. Were the last six digits are the order your car came off the line. What does that mean? Nothing really, just that saying Evos are completely different from other Lancers or aren't based off them is silly.
Putting Mopar stages on Neon SRT-4 will void the powertrain warranty, even if they are installed by the dealer. They will warranty the parts the same, but not any damage caused by using them. So again, a modded Neon has just as much powertrain warranty as a modded Lancer/Evo/RA. None.

Ralliart vs SRT-4
Do you want a car that the average has no clue about and when they see it it will just blend in with the rest of the cars in the parking lot. Unless of course you start modding it, which will get people to ask you about your car. Of course they will know very little to nothing about it so you will have a blank slate on which to draw.
Or do you want a car that the average person has no clue about. BUT they think they do, because it looks exactly like one of the most common cars on the road. A common car that has gotten a reputation as a cheap POS car (and no, how many are sold does not speak for quality, it just means they are the most sold, statistics are simply numbers that show trends not correlations, assuming correlations is bad logic). So when that average person asks you about your car they will say, "clean looking Neon." Now when you explain your car you don't have a blank slate to write on. You must first clear out all the preconcieved notions that go along with Neons. Then you can rewrite what that person thinks of your car. But what usually happens at the end of all that explaining is this comment: "But isn't it a Neon?"
So it's your choice (speaking to the author of the thread). Power and speed wise, the SRT4 is the obvious choice, as you will get more performance for you money. But is that enough to outweigh having to constantly hear your car belittled by soccer moms?

Dude, we are not knocking SRT4's. We are telling you how the rest of society views Neons. A concept you are having a tough time grasping.

wrong sloty, technically, any performance part that breaks somthing else is NOT covered under warranty. dodge doesnt have to stand behind their parts if they dont want to. infact, whenever you are flipping through the mopar catalog or when you buy a part, it states, on the side, that mopar parts are for off road use only, and are not covered under warranty. this means that if a stage 3 turbo breaks a rod, your out of luck if they so choose.

From a pure enthusiasts standpoint the Neon is far more impressive despite it's cutesy ads and image tahn the regular Lancer. If you were into any sort of motorsports, autocross, or SCCA rally you would realize that the Neon is a pretty capable platform and played an intergral role in revitalizing SCCA club racing. It has also had impressive finishes in events such as One Lap. The Neon has also won over 20 national championships in Solo and Road Racing. One of those national champions being Mark Daddio who last year campaigned a Evo in SM.

The average person on these forums doesn't spend all of his time around nothing but car enthusiasts either. So having to deal with the rest of society on a daily basis becomes a more prevelant issue. I know I'd get sick of trying to explain and defend my car all the time to people that don't know about sports cars. And hearing "It's just a neon" along with that would really annoy the hell out of me.
ike, dodge isnt as bad as mitsu, but are pretty bad!!! they are more oblivious to mods than most, and dont care as much, afterall the dealers still get paid for warranty work. the real reason is becuase its hard to view which comp is in the car, same with the evos and flash tuning. any other mods and they are not as kind because its obvious
