I've caught my car doing something like this once. I got the repetitive ding tone you get when you open your car and leave the keys in the ignition. Except, my keys weren't in the ignition, I had pulled them out. I put the key back in then pulled it back out, it went away and hasn't come back since.

I get a very good annoying beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep if I open my door with the engine off and headlights on. I love that feature, a minesite habit is driving with lights on during the day and I do that at home too, sometimes you forget to turn em off. Flat batterys suck.

Closest thing I've had to that is my clutch makes a noise like a loud cricket chirp when starting out in 2nd gear in snow.

That it doesn't. there are upsides and downsides to that. there are occasions when I'd need some light to do something (fiddly gate lock at night etc.) but wouldn't want the keys in the car (so somebody can't jump in and drive off with it) but I used to have a car that had auto off lights and that was cool, never a flat battery with that one. And this you can't not know your lights are left on coz of the noise so thats fine with me.

I know there was a way to change the length of the auto-off timer on our headlights, or disable it completely. Check with your dealer to see if the VR-X is supposed to have that feature, it might just be disabled.

Even with the auto-off headlights, you can just turn them off then back on with the key out and the headlights will come back on while you fiddle with that gate. Even turning them on manually like that, I think they shut off after 10 minutes.

Don't forget the annoying seat belt beeeeeping. Sometimes I have to rearrange the cars in the driveway depending upon whose leaving first in the morning and I just don't want to put on my seat belt, but damn if that tone doesn't make me!!! LOL

yeah, at the drive thru windows I usually end up putting my belt back on before I even put my wallet back in my pocket. if you disconnect the harness at the front right underneath your seat it won't beep at you any more.

Ugh! I remember those when I was overseas and in Chevy's a lot. My RA here doesn't have that! I have heard of a Volvo that actually turns the volume of the stereo right down if you don't put your belt back on.

An option listed as being equipped on my 06 Ralliart is "automatic headlights" but I have yet to figure out exactly what is automatic about them.

I am going to go grab the owner's manual and read it.
