Steering column: rattling noise

ANyone else get a rattling noise coming from the steering column? I have to hit it about 5 times a drive to make it stop, on long trips it gets rediculously annoying. If so, is there any way to mute it? I took a look at it and there is a little play back and forth when I move it. Any ideas please post em. It's driving me nuts!

I get that, too, but haven't looked deeply into it to figure out the cause. I suspect that something around the area of the cluster is rattling against the column trim pieces.

is the shell snap on or screw on? maybe a tightening or foam lining of sorts would mute it?
