So I guess we don't want to talk about the Lotus Elise with the Camry 4 banger in it?

 

The Elise has the celica 4 banger the 2zzfe, which is now also available in the Corolla XRS and the Matrix XRS. The camry four banger is in the scion tC. Anyway the camry is NOT faster. HP is not the only factor. The new camry has 210 hp and barley makes sixty in under 9 seconds.

all the internals are hopped up in the lotus though. its a bit different.

Actually, no the only thing changed in the elise is the ECU has different mapping. and it's a 2zzGe.

My 3.5se Nissan Altima is pretty fast for a family sedan

This thread is hilarious. To beat a dead horse: power-weight ratio kicks your a$$. Also keep in mind difference between HP and torque and where and what the torque peak is in comparison with 0-60. Also the difference in tuning/utilization of the motor. Nice try though. You'll apparently be impressed when you drive it.

 

YAY!!! Someone got the power to weight ratio reference! From personal experience a RA (boosted w/NOS in my case) w/ ~215whp will beat a Hemi Ram w somewhere around 350whp (not stock either) in the 1320 by a bit. Probably more if I were a better driver... Severe wheel hop for me and tire spin for him and that's before hitting the plan B button! Look at how flat the torque curve (0r line) is on a RA, that's what MIVEC is all about, torque everywhere all the time means more fun. Go drive one and tell me you can't write a message on the ashpalt half way thru 3rd...

 

Just to give an extreme example:

The RA - 162HP, ~2840lbs. 0-60: ~7.5 seconds. Weight/HP Ratio 17.53lbs to 1HP

US NavyNimitz class Aircraft Carriers - ~700,000 HP, 97,000 tons without load. 0-60: Never, top speed is ~56 km/h. Weight/HP ratio: 277.14lbs to 1HP.

 

it is true....RA is much faster than a camry. I used to own a camry and my brother owns a ralliart, huge difference. EVO vs RA isnt fair, so we tested camry vs RA instead. But the cary has a smoother ride. Anyhow totally different class of cars.
