Completely Clueless. Please help!
the only thing you have to worry about is if you actually submerse the entire filter in water. AEM sells a bypass valve for CAI's to prevent this if you think you will be driving through water deep enough to cover the filter, but you do lose a little bit of power because of it. the bypass valve comes with a CARB certification label to affix to your intake tube. AEM clearly explains that this valve is only necessary if you have any worry that the intake will be completely submersed. If I have not made this clear enough that means you have to drive through a puddle at least a foot or so deep in order to get hydrolock with a cold air intake, or be driving through deep puddles that are throwing sheets of water under your car for a few seconds or longer. There is pretty much no risk of getting hydro lock from using a CAI in regular weather conditions, such as small puddles in the roadway or pouring rain.
I was a bit worried about being flamed when I made my post. You guys were totally cool, really read my post and tried to help explain things in terms that I could understand and gave me some great links for some products.
Looks like all try to do as many as I can to try get my feet wet. Just got to decide on which products to go with now.
Thanks
