timing light

i know i know. i used to be a mitsu tech so i should know this, but i have always used a mut 2 to check my ignition timing, and am getting tired of driving all the way back to my old dealership to check, adjust my timing. how yall checking your timing with a light since we have no plug wires? (puts on flame suit)

WOW! I knew we had coil on ignition but I pushed that waaaaaay back in my brain untill now.... Is the ignition harness long enough to facilitate a jumper spark plug wire between the coil and plug? Now that I understand why you're asking, thanks for asking! I'd been putting off that part of the verification process.

Anyone have any ideas or positive answers?

edit: I checked an old timing light that came with the "plug top to boot" adapter for checking timing. If it's still available now... I can't say for sure, time to buddy up to an old timer, that's where I got mine in the first place (for a different car). While this doesn't help you directly, if someone else doesn't have a different answer you'll know there's at least 1 available.

Waiting on RPW to tell us about the mivec. You can always hit up a pawn shop and look for an old timing light w/ the adapter. Or try and find a double male to adapt any spark plug wire for a standard inductive light.
Maybe mitsiman will give us the answer today for the mivec.... It's been gnawing on my guts for over a year now. Blue box staring at me wimpering to be used like a high school cheerleader . No wait, I'm getting too old to comfortably say that anymore.... Yeah, right!

I was reading about MIVEC and I didn't see any description of electronics - just of the mechanical swapping of the cams and such...

I don't really know much about it but I'd like to know how it works as well =)

but still you will need the cam gear to know were you are... the stock damper has the timing light mark so the rest is just point and tune... just dont drop it to far ~-3-4 for 100
~2 for 75, stock can handle 50 and less
