CEL triggered and bogs out

K fella's, I have a small issue at hand. I was driving home last night, and I floored it from about 2000 rpm up. The car bogged and started pulling slow up to about 4500rpm...then " WHAM" thrown in back of the seat to redline. My CEL has been triggered for a short while as some of you may know. I am at 87,000 kms, I run redline fuel system cleaner every 5000kms and I run 94 Octane all the time. I just cleaned the K&N a few weeks ago, but the CEL was on before I cleaned it. I just finished a bottle of the fuel system cleaner and the CEL went away for a day. I beleive it may be an o2 sensor, or the stock cat may be plugged?. I really want to avoid the dealership( due to the pulley ), but if I have to go, I have to go. Any thoughts or advice? I may need the downpipe sooner than I planned maybe. Thx for the advice.

just a stab but i heard that putting the K&N drop in filter is bad since its pre-oiled and its right there at the MAS...i dunno though. did the CEL come on after you floored it or was it on before?

Are you serious? Do you have a tune for that octane or the RRM Piggyback?

If you have been running 94 octane all the time, you have been wasting your $$$ and killing your engine. It is absolutely idiotic to run a higher octane than what the engine is tuned for from the factory.

This is probably your "issue".

LOL...maybe your right. I know 94 could be the problem, its quite high for the car. Maybe I will step it down to 91 and then to 89 over the next few tanks and see what happens. I have asked many locals their thoughts on that particular issue and a few said 94 shouldnt hurt it, plus its cold up here. If anything the fuel would burn cleaner and be more combustive. Maybe they are wrong. All I know is I am just beginning to tune her and the last thing I need is new pistons or a head gasket issue. I popped the hood earlier and my rad lines were " pinched". I vented the cap, the coolant level was fine, started it, let it run for a while and pressure built back properly. the fans came on too. It seems fine, but I may have to take her in to the dealer this week. I will try resetting the ECU tonite.

Sounds like it is in LIMP mode. Reset ECU by disconnecting battery. See if it clears. If not, I know some RAs have been losing MAS Senor and needed replacement. Check there.

I know when I'm in limp mode.......ah nevermind.

Yeah....you could try to reset the ECU too to see if that helps. I still think running the 94 Octane is part of the issue. You just don't need that high of an octane gas for the mods you have.
If you had a stand alone or piggyback (ala RRM's Piggy), you could tune to run that high an octane (and may see performance improvement---real world #'s....no butt dyno ).

you can clear the ecu, but the code will stay in the "memory" ... get someone to erase or clear the codes- what is the code anyways??

ive burnt through a couple of mafs. and btw running higher octane gas (as long as we are talking about pump gas) wont hurt your car.

dont run that high octane unless you have forced induction or have the piggyback. it will harm your engine despite other peoples arguments. the highest you should run is 89. but really your should run 87, and flush your enigne every other oil change.

all octain is is gasolines resistance to spark knock and detonation, now how would that harm your car? it will only harm your wallet.
