CEL triggered and bogs out
CEL triggered and bogs out
K fella's, I have a small issue at hand. I was driving home last night, and I floored it from about 2000 rpm up. The car bogged and started pulling slow up to about 4500rpm...then " WHAM" thrown in back of the seat to redline. My CEL has been triggered for a short while as some of you may know. I am at 87,000 kms, I run redline fuel system cleaner every 5000kms and I run 94 Octane all the time. I just cleaned the K&N a few weeks ago, but the CEL was on before I cleaned it. I just finished a bottle of the fuel system cleaner and the CEL went away for a day. I beleive it may be an o2 sensor, or the stock cat may be plugged?. I really want to avoid the dealership( due to the pulley ), but if I have to go, I have to go. Any thoughts or advice? I may need the downpipe sooner than I planned maybe. Thx for the advice.
just a stab but i heard that putting the K&N drop in filter is bad since its pre-oiled and its right there at the MAS...i dunno though. did the CEL come on after you floored it or was it on before?

If you have been running 94 octane all the time, you have been wasting your $$$ and killing your engine. It is absolutely idiotic to run a higher octane than what the engine is tuned for from the factory.
This is probably your "issue".

Sounds like it is in LIMP mode. Reset ECU by disconnecting battery. See if it clears. If not, I know some RAs have been losing MAS Senor and needed replacement. Check there.

I know when I'm in limp mode.......ah nevermind.Yeah....you could try to reset the ECU too to see if that helps. I still think running the 94 Octane is part of the issue. You just don't need that high of an octane gas for the mods you have.
If you had a stand alone or piggyback (ala RRM's Piggy), you could tune to run that high an octane (and may see performance improvement---real world #'s....no butt dyno
).
dont run that high octane unless you have forced induction or have the piggyback. it will harm your engine despite other peoples arguments. the highest you should run is 89. but really your should run 87, and flush your enigne every other oil change.
