Rrm Cold Air Intake

desperately in need of help,
i got my piggy and cai yesterday, installed piggy, and im loving it
but things got a lil trickier. i installed the CAI today, and like a couple of threads that i read, i also got stuck in the plastic guards part
in complete annoyance, i just ripped a 'plastic guard' to try to fit the cai filter
and then the MAS wouldnt fit in the intake, so i had to drill it and make the whole bigger, i thought i was done but when i turned on my car, the engine rev'd for a little bit, and died. tried 3 more times, and it just slowly dies. i tried driving and i cant even go past 10mph, the car will just die. i dont know what to do, im not an expert
please help!

is the airflow sensor pointing the right way? There is a big arrow on it pointing the way it should. And the splash guards are just held on by push pins, shouldn't be too big of a problem. The filter is kind of a tight fit.

try taking off the battery terminals and waiting about 15-20 minutes, then go drive.

thanks to both of you for the replies.

* the air sensor is pointing the right way (up) - at least i hope its the right way.
* i unplugged the battery for 15 mins then plugged it back, then i let the car idle, and it is still the same

i called you guys a little while ago, and i was told to do these things as well
i also tighted the sensor but no help
i can hear this noise from the intake like its sucking a lot of air, but if feels like its struggling, is that normal?
thank you

When you installed the filter, did you put it on where the piping would go completely into the cone (like the end of the pipe would touch the other side of the filter)? Because I did that during installation and the car wouldn't even rev above 2K.

you think thats it? god, i so dont want to take everything back out but if thats what it takes...
what do you think?

-edit-
ohh, youre saying its NOT supposed to touch the cone?

When attaching the filter, only get enough of the piping onto it so that you can clamp it down, so only like an inch? (can't remember it was months ago) or two of the piping is actually inside of the filter. And by inside of the filter I mean just the rubber entrance hole and however long it is. I hope that's not too confusing.

I had trouble getting the MAS sensor in my RRM CAI, too. It would go in the hole fine, but I couldn't get the bolt holes to line up. I just used my Dremel and took a little material off the sensor near the bolt holes. If I have to, I can pop it back out and take pics.

If the sensor isn't installed correctly, it can cause idle issues, CELs, and many headaches.

Because of the way the intake works, it will rob you some horsepower down low, after 3.5k its a sweet melody of tire shredding shenanigans. Wait till the header so you can get the whole experience(and get rid of that restrictive factory cat, which makes your car puff after 4th gear)
