Odometer???

k... So a while back I posted how I was getting really really really crappy gas milage... well I think I found my solution. Apparently my odometer is loosing milage somehow.... I have a 2004 Ralliart.. purchased new in February 05. i only have 4800 miles (i think) the other day i had 5200... then magically went back to 4800.. now its up to 4863... but when i turn it on it will probably go back to 4800... I don't know if i want to take it to the dealer or not... My luck they would claim odometer fraud and have it tagged to the title of my car. Any ideas why this would do this?

-O yah.. its not a battery issue because my clock or radio is never reset.

I'll trade you. My odo has 64,000 miles on it.

It appears you've found the fountain of youth for your car.

Is the tripmeter losing mileage as well?

I wouldn't take it to the dealership, but if you know any mechanics in your area, I would have them check it out. I would be curious to see why that's happening.

I know a guy with a 2004 Ford F250 where his mileage was doing the same thing, he took it back and had it fixed with absolutely no trouble. The Ralliart has a 10 years / 100,000 mile warranty, might as well take it down for an appointment considering you have absolutely nothing to lose.

yeah, i'd take it to the dealership, if it looks like someone's tampered with it, you might have difficulty with your warranty.

Better to get it fixed ASAP while the milage is low then to leave it, sell it to somebody, then have them come after you for misstating milage.

considering its a digital odometer and not analog, its not really easy to change the mileage. (of course it can be done) just get ur stealership to check it out. everytime you do service to your car anywhere like inspection, they record your mileage and will show up on a carfax report, so if its jumping around, you dont want sometihng like that on ur report when your car is fine.
