exaust tip

does the size of the tip of the exaust change the sound?? I just a custom catback done on my ralliart... and it sound's awful... just like civic even worst... but the tip is the same size as the piping... 2.5inches... should it be much larger?

Did they put a resonator on the system??? I don't think the tip matters. Its the muffler and your resonator that makes your sound. I think??? I know if you take the resonator out of our cars, they sound like a bee in a beer can, or like a honda.

A different tip can change the sound...but not enough to do anything extreme like your suggesting...When I put my tip on, there was a little deeper tone, but not much...the resonator, muffler and the actual shape and diameter of the pipe will decide the sound

Yah, try a good high flow muffler first, if it still sounds bad, put a resinator on it as well.

Anybody know how the exhaust from RRM sounds? Sorry not to hijack, but it doesn't have a resonator does it?

No, but it's because it only replaces the piping from the rear axle, as well as the muffler. It uses the existing resonator from our stock exhaust (which is fully capable of handling the higher flow of the piping/muffler). Not much of a performance gain, but noticeably deeper/louder than stock.

There have been numerous clips posted on this forum of the RRM exhaust, searching should bring a few up.

i cut the resonator out of my custom catback. dont really give a hoot about the sound, just want as little obstruction and turbulance as possable.

There is a new full exhaust from RRM...

This is brand new. Beautifully crafted catback system is completely stainless including piping. 2.25 inch diameter piping is perfect for N/A or Turbo setup. Include polished stainless muffler and 3.5 inch dual wall tip. It will not burn your bumper! For 04-06 Ralliarts only.

Dumb question...get ready. OK, ready...here we go...

WHAT IS A RESONATOR?!

Where is it and how does it affect your exhaust system?

Basicaly a muffler is not enought to quiet down the noise, so a resonator is like a mini muffler. Without the resonator you can get that high pitched buzz sound like many hondas have. Its after the cat on a exhaust system. Its just a straight thru pipe, but can restrict flow just a little. I don't think it would make enough to have performance loss though. But I could be wrong.
