Looking at CAI's

I was looking at RRM and AEM's CAI.

AEM has the no-oil filter and is priced around $370 but RRM is priced around $199.

I can't see the reason for the extra cost of the AEM anybody have any idea? I could always get one of their dry filters for the end of my RRM =) There was some kind of of comparison of the intakes pros+cons with dynos and such but I cannot seem to remember where I found it - if anybody has it post a link!

AEM's CAI is 370? You sure that's right?

reason AEM is more expensive is because it has an EO number stamped on it. making it emissions legal. the RRM one does not have that as far as i know. along with headers and everything, has to have an EO number to be completely legal.

Ok. So they are basically the same except the emission number... which I am in a location that does not require emissions...

Is there any way to geto ne that is not "legal" as it were for cheaper or a cheaper place to get AEM other than AEM themselves?

edit: Found it as low as 265 with free shipping from autoanything.com - anywhere lower that anybody is aware of?

Mike

Actually it doesn't yet!!! I have one. I just called them and it's PENDING right now, and she told my that it should have a CARB# by summer.

I just went to the AEM website and here are their baseline HP # for a 2004 RalliArt.

Automatic: 132.7hp
-w/short ram: 136.4hp (+4.1)

5sp: 148.6hp
-w/CAI: 159.9 (+12.6)

I'm going to assume they use the same dyno, do you really think the auto puts down 16hp less? And check out the diff between the peak HP on the CAI vs. SRI!!!

Save for the turbo kit! We have talked about it in PMs. You should apply money to that. AS For intakes I know members dynoed intakes and ours out dynoed AEM and INjen. Don't waste your money on mass produced intake. We just make Lancer intakes and I think it shows in the price and the results.

I was just wanting to throw a CAI and UD pulley on there until I have the lump sum to get all of the parts I wanted from you guys at RRM =) I'd go RRM CAI but personally I think it's semi-ugly... I'm not a big fan of bright glossy red =) Now if I could get it Powder Coated black I'd be all over it =)

Was hoping it'd be somewhere between $100 and $200 not $250+ LOL
