torque numbers!
torque numbers!
Does anyone know the torque values for the calipers and brackets? I'm in middle of painting my calipers, putting the first one back together. A little aprehensive to leave it up to feel for brakes.
I'm not worried about them falling off. As long as you use the right torque specs. Otter, I found a post from you with the torque specs for the bracket (sometimes called knuckle). It calls for 74lbs +/- 7. Is that and the post above from a shop manual for the Ralliart? The dealership told me 45lbs but that seemed low to my mechanic friend. He thought more like 80. I also need the torque specs for the rear whole assembly. It's a smaller bolt so likely lower tque. I appreciate the help.

Here are the specs.
For the front disc, the calliper bracket support bolt is 74ft lb +- 7ft lb. The brake pin or (slider) bolt is 28ft lb +- 3 ft lb.
For the rear disc, the two brake pin or (slider) bolts are bolted into the support bracket, they are 32 ft lb +- 4 ft lb.
It is a good idea to grease those brake slider pins when you had them out. The brake pads are sliding on those pins. The grease got dried up after a year or two.
I didn’t see any grease on the rear brake pin bolts when I had those pins out, I put some high temperature grease on them to keep them slippery for the brake pads. I don’t know why the factory didn’t put any grease on the rear pins?

Thanks Pax. I should really get a shop manual. By the way, they look great. I used VHT caliper paint - stuff they use at local dealership. I'll post pics when I get a chance.
