i just got the third brake light or high mount, i need help installing it

 

ok let me try to understand.....we have the two taillights,and the led light in the wing thats 3 .so what are you talkin about the third light ? not tryin to be an A$$ ....tryin to understand so maybe i could help........

 

He probably got an Evo wing or something, so he's trying to install the third light that goes in the back window, off an ES. There should be a connector underneath the rear shelf for that light.

When I put on the CF RRM wing, I bought an Evo 3rd brake light and installed it myself. If I had known what a PITA it was, I would have had the dealer do it! You can't just drill a hole in the deck and plug it in...

First of all, the only way to PROPERLLY install the light is to remove the deck simply because of how the light mounts and how close the hole has to be to the window. You have to remove all the seat belt crap, speakers, etc. Then, once you get the deck out, you need a proper size drill bit. Your measuring better be perfect, or light will leak out the base of it and light up the interior every time you stop!!! LOL, that's what happened to me my first attempt.

All in all, it prob took me around 4 hours to do. Oh yeah, I think the light was around $60.

 

sorry for the missunder standing, i just bought and evo wing for my car ,and i m installing the third brake light in my car , im most like having the body shop put both in cause it seem like a pita

 

If I were you, just order the EVO rear board. You will save yourself alot of frustration (as what retro has mentioned) and you need to be very accurate with cutting.....Well at least that was what happened to me.....mess up the original board as still have to buy the EVO ones......

 

If anythang...do it the ghetto way n just punch a lil' hole in the middle..you gotz to measure it first doe'...
