Well my wife works at AB Registries, and according to her, in Alberta you can't register your vechile unless you pay off any fines, etc. first, so not sure if your fix-it tickets had fines attached, or if BC works the same, but could end being a shock when your reg. is due.

I mention that because when my friend got his he was also handed an $80 fine for it.

The tint is ~2 months old. Hopefully that means that it's easier to take off...

Thanks, I'll try that. I'd be surprised if they'll do it for free though...

Won't the Windex dry out if I do that though?

spray the in side of the window(inside the car) and then lay a trash bag(black) over the outside of the window and it will scrap right off. The moisture and heat create a pocket of steam inside because the tint is porous. The guy at the place I had mine done did it and said not to tell, oops. Just remember it is kinda time sensistive so do it one window at a time.

In California it is illegal to have ANY tint on the front windows. Only way you can legally have window tint (light) is to have a medical excuse. No Exceptions. The rear windows ONLY can be tinted IF you have a driver AND passenger side mirror. Since most cars now-a-days have two mirrors cops don't sweat the rear windows in CA. If you have ANY tint in the front, with no medical excuse, you can be pulled over at anytime.

True, but there have to be better things for him to spend his time on. I have a clean record, no tickets, and no accidents. I wasn't doing anything wrong.

I think that it's pretty retarded to pull me over just for the tint. The think that gets me is that he was just sitting there itching to go after someone.

Im in the same position, only thing is my front windows are 35%. Anything I can do? I can get a perscription from my doctor, but what should it say? Do I show the judge or do I show the local police department the perscription? I do not want to take it off as it cost me $235 for this 3M tint.

BUMP

I NEED HELP... SOON, FAST!!!

I need help evoM! I have a court date schedule for this wednesday 8am in santa barbara for this stupid tint I have on the front window and I need to know what I can do to keep it on! The front is only 35%, its super light. I work at a neurologist office, and the doctor gave me a script saying something like 'I get migraine headaches due to direct sunlight in my car, but I can only have 35%'. Will that work? Wil she need to rewrite or write an actually note? Please let me know so she can do it today!

doctors notes usually dont count any more. they have a clear tint that cuts all UV rays out of the sunlight. The only usual perscription for tint, is for cancer patients, whom the sun harms very light skin..

okay there is an easy way. since you said its only 2 months old glue should come off if you use a hair blower or heat gun or you can just leave your car runing for 10 min with your heat on. then get a razor blade start on the top. use the heat gun as you are pulling. if glue is still on the window then let the tint cool down. if glue doesnt stick then keep on pulling the tint really slow. dont pull too fast coz the glue might stick to the window. i know this coz i have been detailing cars for carmax and trust me the only hard part is taking the glue off if it sticks. OH btw if glue sticks you need a rough towel and adhesive remover and spray and wipe. thats all. good luck

i suggest that u remove it, i was pulled over twise for having excessive tint ( 5% in the back and 20% front ) ofcourse got away with it being a fed employee. finally descided to remove the front. it is easy just use a cutter to scrap the top edge enough for u to grab and then pell it off. ur done! never been pulled over by a cop after that.

i've done this twice once wit my old car, and once with this one takin the tint off is not hard just try to get it started in one corner and if your lucky u might pull it off in one strip , just take ur time wit it, u should not have to use a razor for this. Once u have all the tip off it's the glue that is the hardest, this u need ur razor for, i've always used paint thinner, it stinks like hell just keep all ur doors open so the smell does not get in ur car too bad and use tape and thrash bags to keep the thinner from getin on ur doors or any other part of ur car, but the thinner takes it right off just be careful not to spill the thinner, and with the razor u don't scratch or windown. the first year i had my ra with tint i got pulled over and tickets like 8 times ,finally i got tired of gettin tickets and took the tint off, i have not gotten pulled over since. good luck, i hope it helps.
