Need help with Tie Bar
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to install the RRM Tie Bar right now and am running into some problems... I followed DangerousDans How-to and it's really clear and all, but I'm having some problems loosening the 2 nuts attached to the bolt.
I tried WD-40ing it, but came to the conclusion that it's not caked on there but just really freaking tight. I do not have an impact wrench and cannot jack it too high so I suppose it's the lack of applied torque, but is there anything you guys can recommend?
Thanks!

I used a long handled rachet and a hammer. Creating my own impact gun. Worked out good.
Just make sure you mark the position of the washers, or your alignment will be buggered.

Alright thanks guys, looks like I'll have to find or buy an impact. RalliartCA's idea sounds good, but I don't think I have enough room under there because I didn't jack it up that high. In fact, I just used the jack that came with the car... yeah I know, manual says not to use it for anything else other then changing tires lol.

I didn't have an impact back then, so I used a 36" breaker bar and a socket. Still had to pull pretty hard.
Use a good jack and jackstands, the factory jack can fall over if you're underneath, pulling on a breaker bar or ratchet.

Leverage is your friend.
After placing jack stands under the car, get a wrench on a nut, and use a pipe on the handle of the wrench that will extend the length of your grip. The longer the pipe, the more leverage you will have.
PLEASE USE JACK STANDS, AS YOU WILL PROBABLY BE ROCKING THE CAR WITH THE AMOUNT FORCE YOU WILL NEED!!!

FYI, it's a LOT easier to take the tie bar on/off by using ramps instead of jackstands. Gets the car nice and high off the ground, so plenty of room to swing a breaker bar (I got it off with a 18", no problem), plus, it keeps some weight on the suspension, so you're far less likely to be able to move the camber bolt.

I REALLY hope you didnt have the car sitting on the jack when you tried to take those bolts off. If you were than never do it again and thank God for the next few weeks over and over again for not killing you.
Like someone else said, go get yourself a decent jack (the stock jack will crumble in a heartbeat, I've seen it happen with my own eyes) and a set of jack stands. For $30-40 dollars you can get yourself a decent jack and stands at your local autoparts store. For the impact wrench you can do like I always do when I need a tool that I know I'm not going to use again in the next year or so. Go to Sears, buy it, use it, then return it and just tell them it wasn't what you needed. Or you can go the more morally sound way and rent it from Home Depot for 40 bucks or so.

I'm especially proud of the "don't use the jack for anything other then changing your tire".

Didn't know that it was that weak.
Anyways, got it installed this morning and I definitely notice a difference. Will share this in the already open thread.

personally i went to my local custom shop and just used their lift and did the work myself. that way i could get completely under the car.
however i odnt know how many shops will let you do that, i have done alot of dealings with bobby's so he didnt mind me using it. also if you know anyone in the carshops in town you can prob use that.
i tried in my drive but found it was far too hard to do with manual labor, had to break out the high techs...lol
