You need to remove the splash shields, and you'll have to cut a hole in one of them for the pipe to go through. I also had to remove my battery to get the pipe in.

unless you plan on playing submarine with your filter you dont need the hydro sheild

i just got mine today and like everyone ive read on here said i ended up being short on time...well actually rained on...soo i only got to get on the short ram and it sounds great, i cant WAIT to get out there tomarow morning and finish the cold air extension...*edit* just read otters post above me...nevermind lol

i was thinking, will the short ram get more air than the CAI , because the filter is placed behind the fog lights?

you will love the sound !! install is realy easy just take some plastics off from the buttom and make hole in one and you are all set .I didnt even take the battery out.enjoy

I took the battery out. took me an hour to do. My friend bought a cosmo racing CAI for his toyota matrix and it took us 4 hours to do. the injen one is nice, sounds good.. good gains. and is easy to install.
gotta take off the bumper, cut a hole in the splash guard.

Taking out the bumper is completely unnecessary. Just remove the splash guard and cut it.

The CAI gets plenty of air behind the foglights. It's not like that area is sealed or anything.

It doesn't need direct air. The CAI has too many curves in it to benefit from any sort of "ram air" effect.
