I doubt that but that would be awsome. They should do the same that subaru does and make a 200+ hp AWD ralliart and still have the evo at the top. Just like the WRX and the WRX STi.

im glad to see that youve found the vin code info but it doesnt prove that there wont be a 2007 lancer, it just means that its not on there it you read the whole thing you will notice there is a disclaimer on the bottom of the document "This information is subject to change without notice" or something to that effect. there still may not be a lancer in 2007, but dont write it off yet!!!

Gee, I would love to be wrong, but don't you think if an all new car was coming in the fall, Mitsu would have shown it to someone by now, like they have the new Outlander? Don't you think there would be spy photos somewhere? Or if not pictures, that it would at least be mentioned in "future cars" sections of car news outlets?

it doesnt make any sense to just stop making the lancer for one year!!! if anything they'd just not change it for a year!! but its already in prod. and if anything they'd lose money on not making a lancer for a year, so either change it this year or leave it until next.

So whenever it does change im hopin they do like someone else said and try to match subaru with the wrx and sti.....it would be time for a trade-in

Don't you think that f they were stopping production that it too would have been announced, and then the car replaced with something else? Manufactures don't just stop a line, they replace it with something "new and better", or make major changes to it under the same banner. Were there major press releases between the 04-05 model RA?...that are pretty much identical...(not including the'06 because they actually changed the grill and stuff for '06)

No. How can they replace something if they don't have the means too? The Lancer isn't being cancelled, it is going on hiatus.

Of course they do. They cancelled the Diamante two years ago. No replacement. They dropped the Lancer Sportback. No replacement. The Montero Sport went away last year and the Montero goes away this year. No replacement.

Acura is dropping the \RSX this year, nothing to replace it yet. The Toyota Celica, the MR Spyder - gone. Thsi happenes all the time in the auto industry.

There was nothing major for the '06 or '05. The '04 got a little coverage because it was a new trim level or model, but not a new nameplate or complete redesign.

The lancer is theyre entry level economy vehicle. its not their in between like the diamante was, and the montero is going away like all SUVs should, especially since thats the one part of the market that american manufacturers have hands down.

The lancer wont get cancelled simply b/c then the entry level is the galant or eclipse, just doesnt make any sense.

And where did you hear that both of toyotas sporty vehicles are getting cancelled withou replacement???

if you look at it the base lancer market is far to big for them to drop and not replace, its not a niche market car eather its big seller in comp with the civic's and carolla's droping the lancer for one year would be detramental to there sales imo

There is no logic to that reasoning.

The lancer wont get cancelled...
Where did I say the Lancer was getting cancelled? I specifically and repeatedly said it is going on hiatus for one year, and will return as an '08 model.

Where did I hear it? They are already gone. www.toyota.com and see for yourself.
