besides the front end of the 04 and up lancers , the lancer has kept the same look ,interior and and exterior wise since 02 . i think they are definetly looking for a new fresh look for the lancer but as of right now it wouldnt be profitable for them to put the new modles on the market because they still have alot of left-overs to get rid of , not to mention, that car is way hotter than the evo in my oppinion and i think it would also kill evo sales.

even with the 260hp mivec v6 in there that car will hall a$$ , so for that reason i think it could hurt evo sales . so put all that in to consideration that could be the reason

No, that is not the reason. There is no "hotter" Lancer then the Evo, because all Lancer will be upgraded to a new body, new platform and new engines. They plant has to be retooled, and its the only one available, so it will be offline during the refit. They can produce new and old Outlanders at the same time, but the current Lancer does not meet safety and emmisions requirements worldwide so they can't just build it one more year.

One of Japan's federal mandates is that all MY2007 cars with HIDs have an auto leveling feature. The Evo doesn't have that. Side airbags must also be standard. Evo doesnt have that, so its gone into hibernation until the X is ready. Mitsubishi would rather save the money it would cost to refit the car, and just concentrate on the new X. The Lancer just isn't ready yet, period for a variety of reasons. Maybe they'll do a last run of 2006 Lancers and call them 2006.5's or something to keep the dealers stocked until then, kind of like they are doing with the SE Evos.

no, you misunderstood what i was trying to say , with the evo being the top of the line lancer with performance and looks, in my oppinion the new style lancer is way hotter in comparison (my bad for not clarifing that)

and ofcourse if they change the body style of the lancer all modles will follow , i would hope so.lol as far as all the other things you mentioned im sure the new models will meet all those requirments but like you said the lancer just isnt ready yet for a variety of reasons and i can bet that one of those reasons is the loss of sales of previous lancers including evo's , so it seems where on the same page just a diffrent paragragh.

But what I am saying is, what "new style lancer" are you referring too? We have seen both the concept X evo and the concept Sportback, which could be a regular Lancer, so it isn't like the only protoype they have shown is of a regular lancer. That's what I meant, by no hotter version. Its not like when Ford first showed us the new '05 Mustang, but there was no Cobra model yet to show off, but here a year or two later we now have the GT500.

The basis of this misunderstanding is that the reference is to Lancers...an Evo IS a Lancer. - brought to you by Clarica

i talked to ROCK (the kick a$$ RRM guy) the other day and he expects the new ralliart in september??????? good source. but i must agree, there is gonna be some '06's left over so im thinking wait till some where in '07. Ralliarts a hot car, and a great seller.

Don't see why they woulud hibernate it for a year, they could make 5 million more in profit just by making a new '07 ralliart. Thats 5 million they're losing out on.

Although I hope there is no lapse in Lancer production, how the heck do you know what kind of profit they'd miss out on? 5 million dollars? Where did you get that number from?

Huh?

So I guess you got the inside details on the new look of the 07 lancer? Care to share? Anyways, your reaching... you have no idea how "hot" this new lancer is, nobody does at this moment because it is not even out. Before you jump to conclusion wait till production pics. The pics posted in the thread is not the new lancer, there are concept of different models mitsubishi is working with.

That's because the Evos are all '06s even the upcoming SE models. They've been added to the previous year's PDF page.

Some people seem to know for sure. Half say yes, half say no. Try waiting 2 months and see for yourself. It's not that long of a wait.

ya, im either trading in my old '06 ralliart and buying an '07 or purchasing a hyundai sonata =X the hyundai has some power to it (3.3L) unfortunately you can not go past 136 mph because of a speed limiter. i want the '07 though, we'll see how it pans out.
