So, is there gonna be a 06 Ralliart SE?

Mitsubishi has announced a new "Special Edition" package will be made available for its 2006 Lancer econo-sedan. The Lancer SE will ring it at a very reasonable price of $16,099 and include items that dress up the Lancer's appearance. For instance, the SE gets 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles, and color keyed mirrors. The interior features a power glass sunroof, six-speaker stereo, Alcantara seating surfaces and vinyl bolsters. The SE content, however, is only skin deep, as it retains the base Lancer's 2.0L four-cylinder that produces a meager 120 hp. The little four-pot is good for 34 mpg highway/27 mpg city, though.
Despite the fact the SE model looks to be an appearance package, Mitsubishi did not have a photo available yet. Shown is the Lancer Ralliart.

Maybe they're seeing how a replacement to the oz's styling will be received. I personally think the OZ looks too much like the Ralliart, if you don't look at the front and rear side skirts, fog lights and the wheels. With the 2007 change coming up, this could be a way to test the waters and see if there's still interest in a dressed up ES.
I don't know how OZ sales compare to ES and RA sales, but if it's bad enough, maybe they'll get rid of OZ trim if the SE doesn't do well. Totally speculation. I have no evidence to back up this idea except the comments you guys are giving. "all show, no go" Does anyone really think the OZ is more than a front?

It belongs on sub 80's cars. It looks good on those cars, now these days painted parts look much better. IMO

I honestly believe MMNA is the most stupidiest company this side of the great green earth. Why would you release a "SE" version of the lancer? A "SE" version of the lancer is a 'Oz Rally'. What is so special about 'chorme handles', 'color miror' and '15's'? They seriously need to get there act together, such a ridiculous waste of time and money.
