Within a year, there will be three more Lancer variants. First there will be a front-wheel-drive model with a 2.4-liter inline-4 dubbed either Lancer GST or Lancer Ralliart. Then there will be the all-wheel-drive Evolution X (perhaps with as much as 320 hp). And finally something between the two that will be positioned against the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX, which we believe will be an all-wheel-drive Lancer GSX with an inline-4 boosted to 250 hp with a light-pressure turbo.

I have to agree with that... it would suck big time if they called it a GSX, VR-X... MSRP, ROI, BSD, RNA... enough with frackin' acronyms already. Here in North-America we tend to like products with real name, not som BS acronym.

Ha ha, but GSX is legend.
I would think if they want to establish Ralliart as a brand name for upgrades for ALL the cars, it shouldn't necessarily be attached to a model of car unless it is the very best of that line.

I write RA cause it's easier, but I don't want to say I have a Mitsubishi Lancer RA. Ralliart sounds much better.
Plus, I associate GSX with the eclipse and I'm sure a lot of other people do too.

I agree, when I think of GSX, I think eclipse, same thing goes for GST. When I say 'ralliart' or 'ra' I think of my lancer.

GSX would sound crap. That almost sounds like what you would put on a peformance bike.
I'd prefer RA or my very own VRX.

GSX was used on a rare 4WD Galant, that was not turbo and didn't have 4WS like the VR-4's of the time. So another AWD turbo car like the Eclipse, but this time a Lancer would fit with their naming shceme if they went with GSX. I remeber back in 2002 when we didn't know what specs the evo would have, a lot of the haters were calling it a "4-door GSX" because they thought we'd get a watered down JDM version.
Ralliart implies motorsports and the Mitsubishis heritage, so I think of AWD and turbos right off the bat considering the Evos they use to compete with. IF theres still an outside chance the car will be FWD with a 2.4L, I don't think it should be an RA, but a GTS or whatever. But if they every want to make something on the order of a TME Edition for the Evo, or something better then MR, then to me Ralliart Evo makes more sense.
