Motortrend says no 07 lancers!

Motortrend's newest issue has a rundown of the 07 and 08 models and states that the lancer will not be sold in 07 and will be revived withe the evo X body style in 08 with talks of a new dohc engine. pick up the mag it has a little more detail.

Mitsu is doing 2006.5 models, then releasing the new body styles for 08.

GPTourer started spreading this info around awhile ago, many were doubtful (incl. me) but he turned out to be right. I hate that.

GO buy a Caliber and take the body off, there's your mitsubishi lancer chassis. It's the same chassis. They let dodge test it out first, lol. Sneaky japanese.

To be honest i thought id post it for people who wanted to know but i don't care all that much. im not trading up unless theres an AWD turbo in the same price range as mine. and if they look like the evo X (which i here is the case) then forget it.

i like my car and its not AWD but it can be turbo and thats the important part.

Also Motortrend said there would be only one engine for 2008. 150hp. Sounds like no ralliart to me. what do you think?

That is incorrect. Spy shots have proven that there will be both a regular Lancer and a Ralliart version.

MotorTrend is correct in regards to there not being a 2007 Lancer.

will launch the 2008 Lancer in the U.S. March 2008, with just one engine, rumored to be the 2.4l World Engine (GEMA DCX/Hyundai/Mitsubishi).

Per Autonews/Autoweek, the 2008 RalliArt willbe launched a few months later anw will be available with a turbocharged engine. It is curently unclear if it will be a detuned version of the EVO X 2.0l engine or a force fed version of the 2.4l World Engine (the latter being less likely).

Though no details have been announced, it is likely the 2008 Lancer will be unveiled at NAIAS in January (the RalliArt may get its own unveiling in Chicago later on).

.
2007 or 2008? I have to assume you mean 2007. If it were in the spring of 2008 that we were seeing new lancers wouldn't they be 2009 models?

Assuming that motor trend magazine is correct, the 2008 lancer is "all-new" and will be launched "in spring as an early 2008." Will look like the evo x without the flares and rear wing. It is fwd, bigger and better appointed. The say to "expect a new 2.0 iter DOHC four and optional CVT transmission"
They also "estimate" that the engine will be 150hp with a 0-60 speed of 8-9 seconds.
So, they don't sound sure but I would assume they know pretty much what they're talking about. I'm just hoping it isn't faster than our 04-06 versions. I've only had mine two years and I don't want it to be outperfomed so soon by a later version.

Eh, old news... we've know for a while that there would be no 07 Lancer(s). GPTourer broke the news awhile ago.

You guys do know magazine information is almost a month behind than current times (atleast that's what ive been told). So that issue (I got mine in last friday) does not have the update of the 2008 lancer (es/ralliart) we have, that was posted 2weeks ago. Take what MT says with a grain of salt. Next issue (if they report it) will have what we already knew 6weeks ago,
