Help! Somebody Diagnosis My Car Please!!!
First of all they have to actually proof that the damage was caused directly by the intake. And second if you want your car fast and don't want to start fighting with the dealer buy the part and install it yourself. Just push the car out of the dealer and change it. What they are charging you for the install is tottally outrageous
I did that once with my subbie the guy at the dealer was maaad!!!
Good luck

^^^ I know, I was thinking that, but if it can be cover and mitsu is trying to pull one over me, (thinking im naive) ill be damn to let them do it.
I just got off the phone with them again. I ask what code did he pull up and he told me "P0103", which is Mass Airflow Circuit High Input. I than ask what was wrong with the stock maf and he said "I believe it was dirty... let me ask". Than about 10secs later he comes back and says "yeah, it was dirty". He said they attempted to clean it, but it did not work. I ask so it's not cover under my warranty still and he said 'No'. I said "is it due to my intake"? and he said "yes".
So ralliart owners help me out here, can my intake void my warranty on a "dirty" maf? I just did a search on MAFS and turns out alot of people have experince the same problem as me, turns out the MAF was dirty too. Only problem is, the orignal thread starters never got back to there thread or didn't mention there outcome.

well im not saying that its not possible due to the intake. and its enough probable cause for them to say it was the intake that you have *which i want to copy by the way* so i mean there is no real way i think this time to say that if it was or not due to your modified intake. just bust some *** and just get your car outta there mike. and if ya want any help i live near the dealership just give me a ring

Ok, so I cave in and paid for the part. $185 total. They will ship the part to the dealership, but I opt to install it myself and he said I can install it there at the service facility as long as I have tools... free of charge. Still, it's not the money, but more of the 'reason', as I feel they are taking me for a ride. Should I go up there tommorow with electrical dust cleaner and see if that will work? Since he said it was just 'dirty'?

OK if the dealers tells you that the intake is loose and the vibration damaged the MAF. Thats a justified reason to void warranty. But saying that it's dirty and it's because of the intake, that's BS. Again thay have to proof that the intake caused the damage. Other thing if you can find hard proof that there is in fact a lot of people having problems with their MAF's you can argue that.
Bottom line Its MMA who pays for that repair not the dealer
Try to clean the sensor yourself, if the car starts, go to your house and install the stock airbox for sometime, and if it fails again take it to another dealer.
Good Luck man. I just hate it when dealers get sttuborns

If the MAS is just dirty, it should be able to be cleaned. But since you bought a new one, I would go ahead install it yourself.
Here is my general theory on all the problems members on here are having with our MAS:
Seems like all who are having problems have aftermarket intakes, right? How careful is everyone being when they remove and reinstall the MAS? I don't think a lot of us realize how VERY delicate pieces of equipment these little things are. They should be handled very very carefully when working with them.
Also, we need to be carful with how much we oil our aftermarket filters. Too much oil can get sucked into the intake and foul the MAS, causing problems.
Just a future FYI for us all.
