Seat squeak

I have an 04 with almost 40K miles on it, and for the past couple thousand miles my driver seat has been squeaking whenever I sit in it. The squeaking occurs when I sit down, when I turn, and just generally if I'm in the seat it will squeak. I've pressed the seat with my hand in several places and the squeak does occur. Anyone know any fixes for this annoyance?

Unfortunately, if it's inside the seat cushion, there's probably not a whole lot you can do. One of my old cars used to squeak at the hinge for the seat back. A little dab of grease on it once in a while solved it.

Used to get that with my civic. The dealer greased it and it helped.

that's funny!

i actually have a similar squeak on my driver's seat. after trying to pinpoint the direction of the noise i found it out to be the seat belt receptacle. i noticed that it'll squeak whenever it pivots or moves slightly while sitting there.

holy hell mine squeaks when i go over bumps at a slow speed too it drives me nuts and even better, one of the metal rods that support the back broke and popped through the back of the seat soo i have a hole and a metal rod showing in the back and when i brought it to the dealership they told me i was out of warranty soo they cant fix it i was like WTF this is a defect! i only weigh 135 its not like i broke it

i also have this constant squeaking sound coming from what sounds like my drivers rear speaker if thats possible, i think i blew it idk its REALLY annoying though

If it really bugs you, you could take the seat out of the car, and try to track down which spring is doing it. Put a touch of grease on it and it should fix it.

I have the same problem, so now I keep my radio loud and ignore it. I believe it's the springs under the seat

Very common.. had the same on my 04.. it's usually the 3rd spring row in from the bottom left corner and can be fixed a few ways.. I tightened the clips up and shoved a lil more foam under that area

Mine did that for a while. It was the bolt that holds the seat belt buckle on. Check to see if it's loose.

Interesting.. multiple causes for what seems to be the same issue. Or more accurately similar sounds in the same area. That makes 4 diff causes listed for this in that area iirc.. once again mitsu def keeping up their rep of being squeaky esp the bushings
