Mivec

Ive long since traded off my 02 Lancer OZ Rally for my 06 Lancer Ralliart and the difference is huge in speed and response time. Ive noticed people say they havent engaged their mivec yet or what ever so my question is this. how do you know when or what is it that you do to cause it to "engage". My love for my car is huge, my knowledge for it at best is miniscule.

-06 Lancer Ralliart (Phoenix Red)
-Evo 8 Wing
-Vortex Generator
-Eye Lids
-Windows/Visor Tint
-Cat back magnaflow exhaust

Get an intake, you will notice the change over 'tone'.

You know how sometimes they take two fourbangers and build a v8 out of them after getting my ralliart I thought, wow two of these things would make one hell of a v8.

And then you could probably mount the engine in the back of the sportback.

if you turn down the stereo, around 3500 rpm you'll hear the sound of the engine change in pitch and take on kindof a mean whine (not really sure of a better word to describe it), but even without the intake you can hear it pretty good if you listen for it.

I actually found that when the car was brand it it was really noticiable because even at idle I would listen to the plinkering of the valves, once the motor was broken in that became less noticable, but the mivec noise is still there.

Another way I manage to notice it on mine is running 2/3s throttle, the transition between regular and MIVEC timing isn't as smooth then; you feel a jerk. AT shifts at 5k RPM at 2/3s.

keep in minnd MIVEC isnt like Vtec. Vtec you feel one leap in horsepower at 4500rpm whereas MIVEC you feel it at 3500 and again around 4500 but in smaller doses.
