Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear

I recently noticed a change in feel when I shift from 1st to 2nd gear. It's not as smooth. Kinda feels slightly clunky. No grinding noise or anything, but it just feels kinda jagged when I shift. Has anyone had a similar issue? Does my clutch need adjusting?

I notice that when I'm in first gear and let's say Im revving it higher than usual, I notice that the gear box when in first gear will start to shake/rattle a little like as if its going/wanting to move into second..

Anyone know anything...

I definitely do not have that issue. When I'm in 1st, my car will redline like it's second nature. No shaking or rattling here.

Sorry, I was busy cleaning out another thread

A big part of the poor feel of 1-2 shifts is usually due to engine movement. We have such soft mounts, and when you combine that with how much the engine moves when in first gear, it makes for a rough feeling shift. Can be fixed by either filling your mounts or putting in a dampener.

Knew we could count on you. What's the more economical method? Is this a DIY fix? Will it mess with the warranty?

Most economical fix is to do what I did - pull the front/rear mounts and fill them with window weld. Filling your mounts won't void your warranty.

Easiest fix is to install a dampener. While the front motor mount is really easy to remove, the rear one is a pain in the ****ing *** to get out.

I think I will go the dampener route. I've done a search and found some threads on the Northstar creations one for like $70. Some say installation was very difficult. Did RRM finally make his?

Not sure if Rock will make a dampener since RRM has solid motor mounts available for sale.

How many times have you ground/misshifted from 1st to 2nd?

I don't think I've misshifted from 1st to 2nd much at all. I actually don't even remember the last time I've actually ground the gears. I ride the clutch sometimes though, when I'm in heavy traffic, but I think it's pretty normal. Are you saying that I possibly did something to the gears or clutch? Please educate me on what you're thoughts are. thanks.

Because our engine moves so much, it's not uncommon to grind from 1st to 2nd if you change gears too quickly near redline.

I don't know if the damage is to the gears of the synchros, but I've been in a few cars that have ground 1st to 2nd that have clunky shifts.
