Why did they call it a Ralliart?

There is nothing Ralliart about the Ralliart model. It is just a badge. Considering there are no Ralliart parts for the Ralliart it is a shame.

IMHO in 04 they should have made the Ralliart the OZ Rally instead. It makes more sense that the OZ Rally get a better engine, suspension, etc.

Ok I am done with my rant for now.

true.. but it does give people the impression that our car is bad *** and special... i mean everyone knows the evolution by now, and when you say you own a ralliart... the performance company ralliart pops into mind and well.. go figure.. a lot of people i meet don't know what a ralliart is, and think its an oz rally.

doesnt make much sense but i think it worked out for the better. it kinda flows off the tongue as a legit car.

and if what i said didnt just make sense, i blame something called brandy.

What? The Ralliart has the 2.4L MIVEC. The OZ has a 4G94 lets see.... 168HP vs 110, plus its got variable valve timing. I will trade you my OZ for you Ralliart if you really want.

thats not what theyre sayin... i think theyre trying to say that the name OZ has more correlation to a mid-range sedan than does the word Ralliart because Ralliart is a performance company with Mitsu and there isn't any connection between the car and the company at all. they werent tryin to say that the OZ is better or something. take away the connotation of name with car and itll make sense.

now that i typed that, i guess it does make sense cuz although ralliart doesnt supply any performance parts or anything, the name simply represents the idea of performance. whereas OZ represents style and looks cuz its a wheel company so the OZ simply gets more show but no more go.

you mean my ralliart floor mats aren't ralliart performance parts? damnit!. Though the car would look hot with the 02-03 OZ rims in 17 inch. But those aren't actually OZ rims are they? I think they have an enkie label on the back like ours.

At the time the OZ Rally was selling pretty well and the word was already out that it was just a dress up package with no bump in power. So even though the press trashed it, the public had accepted it as a sporty Lancer. Rather then try to reverse that perception and risk the car being lost in confusion, they needed a new name to set the new more powerful 2.4L powered Lancer apart, so they called it the Ralliart.

At one time they were considering doing a (calling it a) Rhys Millen signature package, but scrapped the idea and went with the Ralliart instead, keeping the already successful OZ as it was. The subsequent launch of the Ralliart parts division was planned but there is no budget for it right now.

What's really great is that in Asia, there's tons of authentic Ralliart parts for the Ralliart, but as stated above, Mitsu is too cheap to commit to bringing the Ralliart brand over to the US properly. There was one user on here for awhile with a 1.8T Ralliart that had most of the Ralliart suspension upgrades (sway bar, underbody braces, etc)

what i read before is ralliart is mitsubishi's rally team and designers and they came up with the stiffer and lower springs compaired to the oz ,es model also the front strut bar as it would not fit on the evo ,seat's that are different, basically took the es lancer added a new motor, a few other things on a buget and named it after their rally team . if your thinking it's like nismo for nissan its not really like that, the car does have ralliart design parts on it its just not labeled with a ralliart stamp like nismo .take it easy man its just a family car with a few tricks up it's sleeve its not a evo or sti .
