Shifting Problem Help!!!
Hi, guys.. I dontk know why my rpm drops 1.7k RPM when i shift from 1st to 2nd gear. It only does that on shift to second gear, isnt weird. Does anyone else have that problem? All the other shifts from like 3rd 4th and 5th only drops .75k rpms. Problem is that I cant get the car to jump on 2nd gear...it lags like ****.
Can anyone test drive thier RA... try looking at your RPM when u shift to 2nd and to 3rd, notice how much rpm drops when u shift.. maybe it just might be mine RA or maybe i just suck at driving lol..

Prob has to do with the gear ratio. Also, I know my car drops more than .75K per shift!
For example, if I'm in 3rd and shift at 6.5K, my 4th gear rpm will be around 4.5K. That's about a 2k drop. Maybe I'm not understanding your question?

It's because of the gear ratios. There's a greater difference between 1st and 2nd than there is between any other two forward gears, hence the greater drop in rpm when you shift into 2nd.
If you revved 1st all the way up to 7000rpm, it should drop to 3804 in 2nd.
7000rpm in 2nd becomes 4957rpm in 3rd.
7000rpm in 3rd drops to 5228rpm in 4th.
If you can manage 7000rpm in 4th gear, shifting into 5th would only drop it to 5573rpm.

See how the jump gets smaller as you go up through the gears? Compared to shifts in other gears, the 1-2 shift with have the biggest RPM difference. So don't sweat it...your car's fine

I was actually kinda surprised it dropped that far on the 1-2 shift. I thought the formula was wrong at first.

I'm sure my wheel wasn't spinning.. I dont know why my rpm would drop so much.. I tried shifting from 1st to 2nd at 6000 RPM and it dropped to 4000 rpm, and its really slow if you are in a race.. From 3rd to 4th and to 5th, when i shift at 6000k rpm, it only drops to about 5000k rpm.. If 2nd gear was like that I would be more happy..
Hey blackraven, I think you're right about the the gear ratios. But I would prefer my rpm only drops to 5000k when i shift from 1st to 2nd at around 6200 rpm.. It would help so much in a race. I notice how slow 2nd gear is when it drops to 4000k rpm..

I think you drop more bc u shift at the fuel cuttof.. Isnt the fuel cutoff is like at 6400 rpm or something? Correct me if i'm wrong... I usually shift at 6200 and it drops right above 5000k RPM.. Its not exactly .75k drop but notice if you shift at like 4k rpm it would only drop .75k rpm... At higher rpm's it usually drops only about 1k rpm on mine RA..
with the first to second shift i can pretty much squak my tires at any rpm, i dont see what your complaining about, sure there is a large rpm drop first to second, but its friggen torquey mine never 'bogs' in second!!

At any rpm? I dont think so... I dont think you can squeak on 2nd gear if you shift at 3000 RPM lol.. But my point is that the RA just lags a little bit because of the huge rpm drop on 2nd gear thats all...Thx anywayzz..
