Per ohio-evo, Amsoil does recommend longer changes. I use 0W30 Series 2000. Their highest quaity, and Amsoil says every 25000 miles with it on our cars. Do change the filter often though. I have my dealer change at 7500 miles and filter change half way between and that's probably overkill.

I have heard a lot of different things about oils. I've heard that some cars can't be run on synthetic because the oil pump can't handle thicker oil. I understand the the Porsche Boxster can only be run on synthetic and the oil only needs to be changed once a year. While its true that sludge and varnish hurt your engine it takes a while for there to be enough sludge to do damage anything. Even longer if you use synthetic. That being said you can never change your oil too much. Also, who wants to drive this car for the rest of their life? Some *** is gonna come along and wreck your car for you before you know it and you will be looking for a 350Z or something else. Use 5W30 change it every 3-5K, drink a beer and and wory about how your gonna aford a turbo or some shinny wheels or whatever.

does the ra take 5 quarts? my oz says it only takes 3.8 in the manual and i put in 4.

theres a huge thread about whether synthetic is good or bad for non-performance cars, or whether it provides any benefit at all. this all resulted from RRM saying that you should not use full syn with their turbo. that most likely hase something to do with their oil feed lines and nothing to do with the motor.

synthetic is definitely better. it won't hurt, only help. just use common sense, you should change every 3k and use a good oil filter. you already spent all that $ on an ra, why cheap out now? if you turbo, then start inquiring about what oil you need, but for now do what you can afford and what is best

It's supposed to take 4.6 quarts, but with a bigger filter (I use the one for a '94 Eclipse GSX), the capacity gets bumped up to 5 quarts.
