Weird encounter with a mitsu technician

Well today i was driving around to check a dealership that would do my oil and filter change and get a quote for it also. I want to change to syntethic on my RA. Anyways i got to the dealership and they were almost closing and the mistsu tech was closing the shop so i stepped up and asked him time they work, costs, etc. The oil the only work is Mobil1 and its no prob altough they charge $11 the quart. First he asked me for what car was the change then i said it was for a RA. He then said the RA comes with normal motor oil from the assembly line and I said that i wanted synth anyways because it takes better care of the engine and can be changes in bigger intervals of miles like each 6000miles. This is when it turned out wierd. He said i cant change the oil on mitsu/hyundai cars at 6000miles intervals because the metal alloy that those engines use are not as "high endurance" as an evo engine". If i change my oil at those intervals the engine will suffer because of sediment sticking to the engine and it will bring early damage to the car. He was almost getting in his car and i asked "what oil you use on that"...he said synth but he changes at 3k miles intervals. IMO a waste of money since ive seen other cars that are not "performance" cars have their oil changed at 6k miles with synth oil and they havent had any problems...NEVER

my question is:

is this sediment thing true even with syntethic oil and changing at the 6k miles intervals?(i believe its not true since ive seen ppl here post that they change at these intervals

Change the oil when you're supposed to. Look at its condition (the dipstick). It will tell you when it needs to be changed.

its recommended to change it at 3k. Yes u can do 6k but i think thats a bit too much. At the most i would say is 4k. Synthetic or non-synthetic, change it at 3k. SYnthetic u can push it to 4k but not 6k.
There was an example of two engines (same ones), one used synhetic and one didn't. The one that used synethetic - the engine look clean and nice. The one that didn't had some sediments clogged here and there.

I actually read a thread where a guys engine stuffed up because of Synthetic oil.

The post was something like "Synthetic oil = bad".. and showed us pics, and yeah it did look bad..

Try searching and finding it.

as long as you use a good filter you shouldn't have to worry about sediments. So if going synthetic oil, you could do like one guy I used to work with that would change his syn. oil every 15,000 kms, but changed the filter every 5,000 and never had any problems.

Yes synthetic is supposed to last little longer but i perosnally always change it at 3K.

By the way i also use Mobile1 syntheic. I would also recommend u learn how to do oil change at home cause changing it at every 3k and paying $11 for one quarts is lots of $$ IMHO.

That tech is just trying to get you in to the shop more often. Especially with those prices, Mobil 1 can go 6-8 under the right conditions, oil and air filtering. bobistheoilguy.com supplies a wealth of information about motor oil and all that. The only real way to tell if the oil is holding up is to send in a sample. blackstone-labs.com should be able to help you out with getting the sample tested.

I change my Mobil1 SYN in my EVO at 4K. not a slight sign of any sludging at all at 30K when I just put my cars in my car 2 weeks ago. IT looked brand new in the head. The oil around the lifters was pretty black but not chick or sludged at all.

all my cars get mobil one synthetic and I have it changed every 6000-7000 miles. The reason why I use synthetic is for protection and actually save me time and money instead of going to the dealer every 3000 miles, I go every 6000-7000 miles. You can use M1 to any automobile.

For those who said synthetic is worse you should try and do some searches. synthetic oil IS supposed to be changed at 6000miles because changing it at 300miles is just another waste of $$$. But my question regarding what this tech said is not yet answered. mitsu service dealerships sell the quart at $11 but you can get it at any auto shop for $7-8 and you can bring your oil to them

Synthetic is fine to change every 6,000 miles, just make sure you use a high quality oil filter (OEM.) I've been doing changes every 6k miles using mobil 1 and my engine doesn't have even a hint of sludge at 50,000 miles, and I've had the oil pan off and looked closely.
